007. | 𝐈𝐍 𝐀 𝐑𝐔𝐓
Days quickly turned into weeks. "How much longer are you going to avoid me?" Raine read aloud.
The faint glow of her phone illuminated her face as she read the message again. She hit the send. It had already been a week since she had last seen Aizen.
After the sudden appearance of her "mate," Aizen had been distant. Fewer text messages, shorter calls, less spontaneous hangouts—Raine knew what he was doing all too well.
She tossed her phone to bed as she turned her attention back to her laptop. At the top was a few measly sentences—the fruit of an hour of work.
Her phone buzzed with a notification. Despite just throwing it aside, she immediately stood up and climbed back into bed to read the message.
Her lips curved into a smile just seeing Aizen's name on the screen.
"You should spend your rut with Caleb," Her smile dropped. "You guys are still getting to know each other and I don't want to take away from you bonding with your mate."
Raine bit back a scoff. She couldn't believe what she was reading. Caleb Vatore, her supposed mate, was bothering her even when he wasn't there. She had made it clear to everyone that she had no intentions of mating with him.
Raine was already furiously typing a response when her phone vibrated with another notification.
"Please just spend a couple nights with him." It read. “I won't feel comfortable with our relationship otherwise." She froze. Her mind rushed with a million thoughts, and yet she somehow had nothing she could say.
She dropped her head into her mattress. She could smell the lingering floral scent on his side of the bed.
He had spent so much time in this tiny house with her, and yet he was telling her to go be with someone else? The thought made Raine’s head spin. Spending her rut with Caleb meant that Aizen would spend his heat with Alexus. She perked up.
Pheromones washed over her like a prickly blanket. Her tingled and crawled as a primal urge emerged from the depths of her instinctual needs. Knocking filled the quiet house. “Caleb,” Like a spell, the door open, and the man—Caleb Vatore himself, stepped in.
The air became heavy with their pheromones.
“I heard you might be rutting alone,” Caleb said, his voice soft as if he might ruin the growing tension.
Raine scoffed. “What?” She pushed herself into a sitting position and ran her fingers through her short hair. “Did Aizen send you?”
Caleb took a cautious step forward, and then another when Raine didn’t react. “Well,” He didn’t stop until he was in front of Raine; his leg practically touched hers, as she sat at the edge of the bed now.
“I’d be lying if I said no.” He admitted. He dropped to his knees in front of her. His head lowered in submission. The sight sent shivers down Raine’s spine.
Carefully, she reached out. Her fingers brushed against his deathly pale skin. “And?” She lifted his chin up. “What do you want, Caleb?” Her voice was soothing, yet commanding. “I thought I told you I didn’t want to mate with you.”
Caleb’s breathing hitched as her pheromones thickened. Try as Raine might, her body told a different story. She wanted him, and the feeling was mutual.
“That’s true, you did…” His eyes locked with hers. “Truthfully, I don’t want to mate either.” He admitted with a ghost of a smile on his lips. “Our forever—the eternity of a Vampire and a Spellcaster—is too long. Sims like us rarely mate.” That was true.
For Sims like them, those who could live forever, mating was like a death sentence. It was a curse that guaranteed your death—either by a broken heart or separation sickness.
It was too heavy of a weight, and Caleb knew that well.
“That’s why you prefer taken Omegas, right?” Raine didn’t say anything. “Well,” His hands found their way to her legs. His touch felt like electricity. “I suppose there’s no one who knows you better than I do.” He chuckled.
Raine pursed her lips together. “What do you want, Caleb.” She repeated, albeit a bit more stern this time. He pressed a kiss on the inside of her knee.
“You’re an Alpha in a rut, and I’m an Omega in heat.” His lips curved up into a knowing smile. “What else could I want?” Without wasting another second, Raine pulled Caleb into a kiss. It was sudden, desperate and hot—their bodies moved in sync as Raine pulled Caleb to the bed. It was more lust than love, and yet Caleb gladly returned the favor.

006. | 𝐌𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐒 (Part 2)
"Are you being serious?"
The strange man standing on her porch had just said something truly unforgiveable. Her Fated Mate? She couldn't believe that.
Nevertheless, the man handed her a piece of paper. "Here, our compatibility results."
Raine practically ripped it from his hands. She scanned over the text until she found it:
Caleb and Raine Compatibility: 89%
"Raine?" Aizen called from inside the house. He walked over to where she stood in the doorway and looked over her shoulder curiously.
His eyes widened. "Fated Ma—"
This time, Raine interrupted. "Aizen," She only called him that when she was serious. "You should go home." Her gaze was fixed on the paper, unable to look away.
Aizen mouth opened, yet he couldn't find the right words.
He didn't want to leave. His heart raced. Raine's fated mate was right there. He was scared. Scared that everything they had built together might go down the drain, right then and there.
Sensing his anxiety, Raine finally turned and looked at him.
“It’s ok, bubs.” She brought his hand to her lips, kissing their matching ring. It was a show of her unwavering love. “Text me when you get home, ok?”
Eventually, Aizen nodded. “…Ok,” He whispered. Raine squeezed his hand before letting go. Aizen brushed the other Omega who immediately stepped closer to Raine.
“I heard you had an Omega, but I never would’ve guessed that you were so close,” He said as he took Raine’s left hand and lifted it to his lips in a similar move. His lips brushed against the diamond encrusted ring. “How beautiful. Did you make it yourself?” He asked.
Raine snatched her hand out of his. Her gaze momentarily locked with Aizen as he glanced back. He looked as if he could cry at any moment. Raine sighed.
“Just…” She could feel a headache coming. “Come inside.” She finished as she retreated back into her micro home. Caleb was hot on her heels.

005. | 𝐅𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐃 (Part 1)
“You should move in with us.”
Raine's head snapped towards Aizen. "What?"
"You should move in," He repeated. "Or, I could move in with you. Honestly, either works." He continued to nonchalantly type away on his laptop, as if what he said was completely casual.
Raine plated the meal that she had been cooking up and then walked over to him. "Bubs, what the hell are you talking about?" She reached out and intertwined her fingers with his, stopping his furious typing. "I can't tell if you're being serious."
His gaze finally shifted away from the screen and locked with Raine. "Would it be bad if I was?"
She squeezed his hand. "No. It's just..." She paused to find the right words. "It's just something we would have to really sit down and think about." She managed. Her arms wrapped around his shoulders, pulling him into her embrace. "Do you wanna live together?" She asked as she pressed a kiss on his head.
His arms immediately found her waist. "Yeah," He practically pulled her into his lap. "Alexus knows." He muttered.
Raine hummed as she got comfortable in their new position. "Knows what?" She asked curiously. Her fingers found their way into his hair, gently massaging his scalp.
Aizen melted into her. "Mm, she knows...that I want to leave." He started. "She hasn't mentioned it directly, but I know she's been watching us." He buried his head into the fabric of her clothes. "No one knows her better than I do." He mumbled.
Raine bit back her comment. The bond of Fated Mates was just like that. They were practically one: they felt each other's emotions, understand each other's thoughts, loved each other in ways no one could ever understand—and yet, Aizen preferred being with her.
She squeezed him. "...Maybe I should move to San Myshuno." Aizen practically lit up.
"Would you rea—!" Knocking interrupted him.
Raine looked towards the door curiosity.
She had few friends, and none of them would just pop up. She clambered off of his lap and to the front door. Through the glass, she saw an unfamiliar man. She opened the door, and before she could even get any words out, he spoke:
"Hi, I'm your Fated Mate."

004. | 𝐁𝐀𝐂𝐊 𝐓𝐎 𝐘𝐎𝐔
If Raine was summer, then Alexus was winter—she was quiet, cold, and oppressive.
Avoiding her meant trapping yourself inside, but it was only a matter of time until winter madness set in.
Although Raine and Alexus were both female Alphas, their similarities ended there. Raine valued freedom, while Alexus wanted to hold people captive—to teach them that they needed her.
The second Aizen stepped out of the elevator on the floor of their apartment, he could feel her.
Her presence was everywhere; her pheromones lingered in the hallway. It was the type of inconvenience only a dominant alpha could make, and so Alexus couldn’t have been prouder of herself.
The effect she had on others was dizzying. It made his knees weak.
Begrudgingly, Aizen unlocked the door and stepped into a dark apartment. “Johan?” He called out in the abyss.
“I told him to spend the night at the Damico’s.” Her voice sent shivers down his back.
He flipped the light switch and there she was—Alexus Tsvirkunov—his one and only mate. She sat at the kitchen bar, a glass full of bourbon as if she was waiting for his arrival.
Aizen stepped in and closed the door behind him. He turned away from Alexus, as if he was afraid to meet her gaze. Before he could respond, he felt Alexus pressing against his back. Her scent wrapped around him like a blanket.
Alexus pressed her nose into his neck, inhaling his scent. “Mmm, you’ve been spending a lot of time with Raine.” Her hands slipped under his shirt. “I can smell her on you.” She mumbled into his skin. “Do you love her?”
Aizen felt his heart skip a beat.
“Ha!” Alexus couldn’t help but laugh. “I didn’t realize my Omega was so naive.” She grabbed Aizen and turned him around so they could look face to face.
Aizen was only an inch taller than Alexus, yet her presence dwarfed him completely. “I was curious what you’d do if I let you sleep with that Alpha, but I never guessed you’d spent your cycle there.”
Aizen froze. “I-I’m so—,”
“You must’ve forgotten who you belong.” Alexus growled as Aizen’s back hit the wall. “You’ll always find your way back to me.”

003. | 𝐈𝐍 𝐒𝐈𝐂𝐊𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐒
“I think you should go home.”
The pan Aizen was cooking with hit the kitchen floor. It had been three days since Aizen had come to Ravenwood.
The two had spent every waking moment together. Aizen’s heat had come and left; Raine was basking in the afterglow of a long rut spent with an omega.
They had spent so much time together that Aizen had gotten comfortable, perhaps too comfortable.
His heart raced. “Did…I do something wrong?” He asked.
Given the size of the house, Raine was just an arm length away, yet Aizen couldn’t bring himself to reach out.
“Not at all,” Raine made the first move.
Her arms wrapped around him, pulling him close to her. He practically collapsed into her. “You don’t know how bad you look.” She muttered as she stroke his head. “Don’t you feel terrible?” She asked.
Now that she mentioned it, he did. His body felt heavy; he wanted nothing more than to stay in Raine’s arms all day but the throbbing pain in his forehead made it impossible to enjoy the moment.
“Mmm…” He nuzzled into her neck. “I do…” He muttered.
“It’s separation sickness.” Raine whispered as she pressed a kiss on his cheek. “You’ve been away from Alexus-” His body stiffened. “-for too long.”
“Don’t say that.” His voice was soft. Aizen had always been meek, but today he felt especially so.
Raine pulled away just enough to look at his face. “I know bubs, I don’t want you to leave either.” She pulled him into a sweet kiss. “…But, my pheromones are nothing compared to a dominant Alpha,” She touched his neck.
Alexus’ mark was as prominent as the day she claimed Aizen. Raine’s pheromones would never had a chance against hers. “I guess that’s the bond of Fated Mates,” Her lips curved up into a sad smile. “You need Alexus.”
“No.” Aizen interjected.
His grip tightened around Raine. “I need you, Raine—and only you.” Their lips met again in a kiss. It was slow, but passionate. It was as if Aizen was pouring every ounce of his love into her, and Raine accepted it wholeheartedly.
Slowly, they pulled apart. Aizen had a dazed look in his eyes. His lips parted and eyes half lidded. He wanted—no, needed more of her. He leaned in for another kiss; his lips met Raine’s palm.
“Don’t start something you can’t finish.” She teased. “You really do need to go home though but,”
With her free hand, she dug into the pocket of her robe before pulling out a diamond-encrusted ring. She took his left hand and slid the ring on his finger. You’ll still be mine, right?” She asked as she lifted his hand up to her lips revealing her matching ring.
“Ha,” He exhaled. He didn’t even realize he was holding his breath. “I can’t believe you.” He mumbled as he pulled her close. “I’ll always be yours,” He whispered against her lips.

“I missed you, bubs.” His scent filled her nostrils as she held him close.
Raine nuzzled her head into Aizen's neck, inhaling more of him. His presence—his scent—put Raine at ease. It was like a pleasant spring day. She practically melted into his slightly larger frame.
There was something slightly different about him today. His scent was strong—intoxicating.
It resonated with a primal urge within her. “You’re in heat…” Raine muttered against his skin. Her breath sent shivers down his spine as his arms wrapped around her slim waist.
“Mm, I—um, realized that our cycles happen at similar times so…” Aizen’s voice trembled. “I…didn’t want you to go through your rut alone.”
Something in Raine snapped. She grabbed his arm and pulled him inside. The air was hot with their mixing pheromones. She pushed him down onto the bed.
“Oh bubs,” She purred as his back hit the mattress foam. “I can’t believe you came all the way to Ravenwood for me.” She climbed on top. The bed creaked under the weight of them both.
Aizen’s calloused hands reached out to cup Raine’s face. His touch sent electricity through her body. “I need you, Raine…” He whispered.

“…-So imagine my shock when she said she doesn’t swing that way.”
There was silence for a moment. Raine looked up from her glass of white wine to see her friend’s jaw drop in disbelief. “What?!!” Her apt reaction came a second later.
“You’re telling me that your old FWB came out of nowhere with his wifey saying they wanted to host a swinger with you but she doesn’t even like girls?” Raine gave a coy smile, then nodded.
There was another exasperated sigh. “Oh my god, Raine. Please tell me you didn’t…” Silence.
“We~ll,” Raine dragged out the sounds. “I mean, it was perfect timing. My rut-” She paused. The familiar scent of blossoms grew stronger. She recognized those pheromones immediately. She covered the growing smile on her face with a hand. “It’s just one of those things.”
“That’s Alexus-motherfucking-Tsvirkunov’s mate,” Her friend interrupted. “She’s literally the next candidate for National Leader and you’re messing around with HER mate?”
Raine was about to retort back when she heard a knock at her front door. “That’s my sign to go,” She chuckled. Her friend gave a knowing look. “I know, I know. I heard you.” Raine grumbled as she picked up her iPad that she had been using for their FaceTime. “I’ll be careful to not get myself killed, promise.” Then, she hung up.
