20201021 Today I've started watching Start-Up. ( I don't know if I'm gonna edit this post everytime I watch a new episode or even if I'll post it. I guess I will figure it out later) also don't know if this will be a review or more like a sinopsis of each episode

So I've started watching it because Nam JooHyuk stars in it to be honest. I watched the trailer and then idk where there was this clip from the second episode that shows Seo DalMi and Won InJae kind of morning routine and how different they live even though they are siblings. I wanted to know how come their lifes are so different and what is their relationship like.

Be aware there will be spoilers from now on.

So EP 1

The moment her mother shows the divorce papers you know how it is gonna end. DalMi wants to stay by her father's and grandma’s side since she values her family while InJae wants to be with her mother cause she has a similar point of view.

When InJae left with her mother she didn't know she would marry later a rich man, that she would be so lucky and would benefit her professional career. As we see them grow when they meet, we see how InJae’s attitude changes, how she grows apart from their lifestyle and hence, that part of her family.  But she was so mean to tell her sister made the wrong decision. DalMi followed what her heart felt, and there is nothing wrong with that. InJae wanted to live her life easily, even if that means she has to move to another country. But there is nothing excuse to how she treats her sister. After she rejects her invitation to the event after the panel, she could just leave and nothing would have bothered me. But to thank her for showing her that she made the right choice? Just because her sister wears worn out shoes and still lives with her grandma and have multiple part-time jobs. Even when InJae herself lives off her step-dad, it shows that she lacks emotional awareness probably due to  Childhood Emotional Neglect. I really want her to overcome it and be nicer and for them to have a good relationship.

Now, to their father. Man, you should have gone to the hospital the moment that car runs you over. Or even when the investors tell you to reschedule, of even at the end of the meeting. That chicken can wait but I am 100% you are suffering from a cerebral contusion and your brain is bleeding and we all know whow it always ends when it’s not treated immediately. But those people on the bus could at least take him seriously and call and ambulance I swear to God I was so mad at them.

I felt sorry to DalMi, who lost three of her emotional supports at the same day. But regardless of that, she is kind and caring and strong and she will be happy.

But for a sweet end, I was happy to see  Han JiPyeong and grandma reunite. I feel like we will see a refreshing friendship.

EP 2 

I didn’t know who Nam JooHyuk would play, but never had I ever imagined he would play the grown up version of that little boy who won the Mathematical Olympiad. He portrays an intelligent but unlucky guy who just wants a chance to show the world his potential, and his friends potential. But as he runs a small business, no one takes them serioustly. Untill Han JiPyeong appears in front of him, or that’s what he thought.

DalMi’s grandma asked JiPyeong to find Nam DoSan for her, and he did, as a sign of gratitude for rising him and taking care of him when he had nowhere to go. 

Han JiPyeong has no intention to invest in his business whatsoever, he just wants Nam DoSan (Nam JooHyuk character) to pretend to be DalMi’s childhood friend Han Ji-Pyeong and her grandma made up.

DoSan, as expected, is disappointed but he doesn’t loose the chance to ask in return to let their business enter Sand Box (a fictional Silicon Valley) but ad JiPyeong is a businessman he rejects claiming DoSan’s start-up doesn’t have the potential and will go bankrupt. And then he leaves, and one may think that’s the last time DoSan’s gonna appear. 

But as he read DalMi’s letters JiPyeong had been collecting from all those years, he gets mesmerized by her words and decides to help them. And then is when we see him as a heartthrob walking towards DalMi at her sister’s late night event. Even JiPyeong could believe his transformation, with a new haircut and wearing a suit, he definitely looks like someone else.

I just hope they just don’t lie to DalMi throughout the whole show or at least when she finds out ( cuz she will find out) they can still be friends and eventually start dating and being happy together? They both had a difficult childhood and are still leading with some issues, but I really want them to be their emotional support again, but this time being Nam DoSan himself. 

ALSO, as JiPyeong getting ready with that white suit, and looking with a grin at DalMi at the event, I really don’t want a second lead syndrome please, I just ask for this. Let the main actors have their low but comfy relationship without a love triangle please.

SYNOPSIS

As everyone knows, every prestigious highschool has their own Popular Guys Squad, and this high school has A3, which is formed by Oh Nam-Joo (Kim YoungDae), the leader, Baek Kyung (Lee JaeWook) and Lee DoHwa (Jung GunJoo). Girls want to date them and boys want to befriend them. Eun DanHo (Kim HyeYoon) is Baek Kyung fiancé, but it seems as it is a one-sided love since Baek Kyung can’t stand her.

Eun DanOh suffers from a heart disease, and when she experiences some short-term memory loss and seems as she can see the future, she confuses them as some of her syndromes. But they aren’t.

Little does she know the future she thinks she sees is in fact the storyboard of the comic their whole life is. Not only that, she also discovers she is not the main character of the comic but an extra.

The main plot of the comic is one of many clichés: poor girl – Yeo JooDa gets a scholarship to the most prestigious high school and the hot popular guy Oh NamJoo, who doesn’t care about girls, falls for her, but she is not that into him. And as always, there’s also another popular guy who likes her (love triangle enters the room), who is nicer to her, but as every cliché story, you just know they won’t end up together.

Eun DanOh’s only purpose on the comic, as an extra, is to be the one who always defies Oh NamJoo to support Yeo JooDa. But when she learns that the author has planned her heart disease to be terminal, she’ll do anything to change it.  And it may involve falling in love with who she wants and not who the writer tells her to.

OST

I liked its OST. I was always singing along. It really suits the drama and is really sweet. Here are my favourites:

REVIEW

I watched the show while it was being aired and I DON’T KNOW HOW I SURVIVED NOT BEING ABLE TO WATCH IT ALL AT ONCE!

(from now on there will be spoilers)

Eun DanOh is the highlight of the whole drama. She is pure energy. Far from being that weak girl who needs a saviour and is crying all the time, she really will do anything to change her set-up. Moreover, as nobody seems to remember what actually happens between scenes whatsoever, she will start dancing and singing in the corridors, even mocking people and stamping a statue on the floor tearing it apart. She is energetic and charismatic, completely different from what the author portraits her.

What I also liked about this drama is that the main characters of the comic aren’t the main characters of the drama. And yes, bit cliché, but each story – comic and drama – has its own love triangle.

Those who gain self-awareness make fun of all the clichés the author is drawing and are really tired of them all. They might be in scene saying their lines and when it ends, the ones that are self-aware burst out laughing at how absurd the situation is.

THE UNEXPECTED HAPPENS AND THOSE CHARACTERS YOU DIDN’T EVEN THOUGHT COULD GAIN SELF-AWEARNESS, DO. It enables the show to explore even more both worlds, and you can really relate to the characters trying to figure out who they really are.

As it is all the world of a comic, there are a lot of scenes when a sudden music or spotlight appears to add dramatism, which only those who know the truth can see, which makes the scene even more ridiculous.

There is a really beautiful friendship between Eun DanOh, Haru and Lee DoHwa. And at the last episodes, I really felt sorry for Baek Kyung and part of me wanted him to be with Eun DanOh.

The cast was soooo cool. I really liked their acting even though they are rookies. I previously watched Kim HyeYoon on SKY Castle and was really amazed at how different both characters are. She did a really good job on both dramas.

I have enjoyed this drama so much that I have started reading the Webtoon. I don’t know if there are any major changes on the plot but I am enjoying it so far.

I give this Kdrama an 8/10.

SYNOPSIS

Do Bong Soon (Park BoYoung), a woman in her twenties sees a man hitting a bus driver who was just asking to move his van so he could drive through a street. Not being able to let it go and leave the defenceless man on the floor, Do Bong Soon decides to fight back. One must think that a woman, who is also short, wouldn’t have a chance against a well-built man but this is the exception for our girl Do Bong Soon, who was born with superhuman strength inherited by all the women in her family. But as Ahm Min Hyuk ( Park HyungSik) witnesses the scene and calls the police, they all end up in the police station where In GukDoo ( Ji Soo), Do BongSoon's crush, works at . As Ahn Min Hyuk turns out to be the young CEO of a mobile gaming corporation, he makes up his mind and hires Do Bong Soon as his bodyguard.

Do Bong Soon wants to prove that not all women need a saviour and that love is the strongest feeling that can change everything.

It's OST is one of my favourites OSTs. I really think it depics perfectly the mood of the show. Here are some of my favourite songs:

REVIEW

NOW (this might contain spoilers) let me tell you this one is my favourite kdrama (also on my top 3 favourite tv shows ). It got it all. An amazing female main character who is independent and who fights when she has to fight. Park BoYoung and Park HyungSik have an incredible chemistry you’ll ship them since minute 1. Even though Ahn MinHyuk is show as this selfish, self centered young rich boy there’s a lot more to discover about him.  You’ll cry when they cry and you’ll laugh because of their cuteness.

I didn’t get the second lead syndrom even though I understand why some do. Ji Soo portraits perfectly that friend who’s always been there but oblivious. He’s been there protecting Do BongSoon not being aware of her strength but also not quite seeing her as a girl but as a younger siter. 

But for the first time, she can be herself around someone else’s that’s not her family. Because we’ve watched enough tvshows and movies to know what’s going to happen to her is people finds out about her strenght. Ahn MinHyuk knows about her strength, and even when he is a little bit scared of her power, he is there to support her and keeping it a secret. And this right here is how you create a funny and cute rom-com based on a heathy relationship (cause even when Do BongSoon is being stuborn and wants to find the culpirt herself no matter what, Ahn MinHyuk, while being mad at her, still supports her and lets her do.)

About the thriller part of the show, I found the bad guy really amazing. A true villan. He is a villan because that’s how he is. No other reason at all. Not sad background. He is just obssesed over a play and will do whatever it takes to make it real. And when Do BongSoon almost defeats him, he’ll do everything to make her suffer. He kind reminds me of Voldemort, saving the discances.

And lastly, I don’t know how to feel about the ganster plot. I kind of feel it’s used to add humour to the show and also it’s how we first know about Do BongSoon’s super strength and how (HUGE SPOILER HERE) Ahn MinHyuk saves her from being stabbed. But it’s just not my cup of tea. 

 And just for the gangster plot, I’m giving it a 9,5/10.

Just watch this scene and tell me this is NOT ALL OF US BEING EXPOSED.
