“If I’m remembering the last time we were here correctly,” which she might not be considering how drunk she’d been, “I was a lot drunker and you dragged me into the freezing lake. I’m not gonna lie I’m still mad about it.” Of course she wasn’t really mad but she always found it fun to tease Gythan over these things.
She was glad they were focusing on happy things, honestly she wanted to keep it that way. She didn’t know how much time she had left with Gythan and she wanted to take advantage of every second. At any moment he could be gone and she didn’t want to have any regrets about his time back.

Being in Gythan’s arms as he rambled about the beauty of HagaFosiel was as familiar and wonderful as it was breathtakingly painful. She never wanted to let him go again. She would happily have stayed right there in his arms until the day she died.
As they pulled apart she refocused in on the conversation, having not truly paid attention to what he was saying a moment ago. “Surprisingly a lot has changed, though most of it is just some rank changes and such. Though maybe things only feel different in our Compan. We tend to go through the most out of everyone.”
She hadn’t thought logistically about how many things had changed since Gythan’s passing. A lot of those things had seemed insignificant when compared to the fact that he had died.

“You were majorly important to a lot of us, Gythan.” She glanced down, hoping he wouldn’t see her pain, which of course he would anyway. He’d always been able to read her like an open book.
“You went to Haga? I’ve always wanted to see it in person. I’ve seen some paintings and heard stories, but from what I’ve heard nothing compares to seeing it in person.” Though like most other great cities, she would probably only see it while in battle, which kind of ruins the whole tourist attraction feel of the city.
Everything about the situation felt so strange. From the fact that she still referred to him in the past tense to the fact that he seemed as if nothing had changed. Though for him, had things really changed? He had died, but he’d died protecting Yana. She didn’t know what Out of Time was like but she really doubted he spent his time missing a life spent at war.

“I always thought Shini were made up. Even if I had known before that they weren’t, I never would have thought that one of my friends would be resurrected.” It was hard to wrap her head around even though it wasn’t actually a lot of information. She could easily read the sadness mixed into his expression and it made her sad as well. She couldn’t even begin to imagine how this all felt for him.
“So, how does this whole Shini thing work? What kind of message or whatever are you supposed to be sending?“ She paused for a moment, trying to keep the sadness out of her own expression. “I’m assuming it’s not permanent. That would be too good to be real.”
She hoped it was permanent with every fiber of her being, but she knew the reality. The best she could hope was that it lasted for a while longer.

“How are... what... how....” She gave up trying to speak for a moment and took several deep breaths. She felt like she was going insane, but everything pointed to her being perfectly sane. You know, besides the fact that a dead person was standing in front of her. She needed to do something other than just standing there, otherwise he was going to think she was crazy too.
The shock still hadn’t fully subsided. Without really realizing what she was doing, she moved closer to him and reached out, taking his hand in her’s. She needed that confirmation. To feel his hand in her’s made everything seem so much more real. For a brief moment it was easy to forget that he had died, the entire thing seemed like a dream. Then reality settled back in.
Once she had finally gathered herself she glanced up at him and spoke, saying the only thing she could think to say as she fought the urge to wrap her arms around him and never let go.
“I’ve missed you.”

Tear in my Heart || Lareasa & Gythan
For once Lareasa found herself with some much needed free time. Not the I have time to myself but still have to run errands kind of free time, but genuine time that she could use for whatever she wanted. She wasted the day not really doing much other than relaxing, but as evening drew closer she became bored. That was how she ended up walking aimlessly around town. She didn’t have a specific destination but she knew she wanted to be anywhere but home so she just kept walking. Before she knew it she was standing on the outskirts of town by the lake.
As she went closer to the shoreline she saw a man standing facing the water. The sun setting threw shadows across his figure making it hard to tell who he was. She continued walking toward the shore, intending to say hello to whoever he was. Just as she was about to say something to the man, she caught a glimpse of his face.
She was going insane. No other option. She had finally lost her mind. There was no possible way that Gythan was standing in front of her. It had to be a trick of the light or something. She was after all at the same lake she had been to with Gythan, so maybe she was just imagining it. She kept running through her brain looking for a logical explanation but she couldn’t find one. It was definitely him, it had to be, but how? How was he here? Why was he here?
Why was she asking all these questions and not just talking to him?
She took a deep breath calming herself down and trying to slow her mind. She walked forward until she was only a few steps behind him. Trying to speak like a normal person and not sound totally crazy, she said something not specific to him just in case she really was imagining this and it was just some random dude who happened to look like her dead friend. “Hey. What are you doing here?” Yeah, that was about as good as her speech was going to get right now.

chaotic-soaro:
After Dynas’s foray into Knight territory, he gave the Blues exactly three minutes and twelve seconds to fix him up before he was too restless to stay still another moment. Fixing his sword belt around his waist again, he left to relieve a couple of scouts along the western edge of camp. He scoped out the area, its trees and bushes, rocks and stumpy hills before wedging himself into the ditch reserved for Cold North watchdogs.
That is, until he heard the crackle of a branch snapping.
He was positioned too far away from the camp to be hearing sounds from within it, so he slowly slid his knee up and pushed himself into a crouch, scanning the territory before him. Soon it would be impossible for anyone to see his own hand in front of his face, but while the moon was still high above the sparse foliage in this area, he could see quite well. And if he couldn’t, he’d simply light up the darkness himself. Slinking silently across the uneven terrain, moving from tree to stone, he soon caught sight of the intruder, her blond hair lit in the moonlight along with the armor of a Knight. Dynas wouldn’t be able to pull his sword on her and keep her from doing the same unless, on some minuscule chance, she happened to walk right up next to him, so he decided to take a more direct approach. He had never been a patient man, anyway.
Stepping out from behind the tree, he called, “You’re a little far from home, aren’t you? Not that I don’t understand wanting to get a good look at our beautiful selves, tried that myself earlier. Sadly my presence wasn’t welcome, either.” Dynas held his arms out from his sides, palm up. His body and mind were still wired from his narrow escape from the Goodlands camp, so it took only a blink of an eye for fire to dance into existence above his palms, flames spitting and jerking, ready to burn, burn, burn.
The Mancer’s sudden appearance sent Lareasa straight into defense mode, not that she hadn’t already been defensive. One hand rested on the hilt of her sword, the other slipped around to her water bag and opened it as discreetly as she could.
She took a few seconds to examine the man, looking for weakness and strengths to see what her odds would be if she couldn’t get out of this. He was larger than her for sure, both in height and in muscle mass. So fighting by magic would probably be the better option when considering that. However, Mancers were almost always specially trained in how to use their magic to an extend that Knights would never be able to. Considering she had no idea what kind of magic he had, it made it hard to judge if fighting by magic would be better than with sword.
Then there was his statement.
His words unnerved her. It was the kind of statement she herself would have made. Or really any of her friends would say something like that. Had she not seen the Mancer she would have thought it was Absarc or Pastew messing with her. With that in mind, her automatic response was something of equal sass, but she wasn’t sure if saying it would piss him off. Either way he was going to attack her at some point so no need in staying quiet and regretting not saying this. “Yeah, I totally came here to look at attractive people,” she said, her voice full of sarcasm “and I must say it turned out to be a huge disappointment and a waste of a trip.”

But What if they did?
It wouldn’t be the first time I’ve lost a friend and I doubt it would be the last. If it happens then we do what we do every time, we move on.

Into the Fray || Lareasa & Dynas
Lareasa worked her way carefully around the Mancer camp, so as not to be seen, ducking behind boulders and small hills as she went. She always volunteered for scouting missions and she’d only been on a few that had went south so hopefully this one would be routine. Walk in and walk out. Though that was always too easy wasn’t it?
She kept her sword in it’s sheath, so that she was able to move quicker and quieter, her water bag sealed, so that it wouldn’t spill as she moved. Realizing she was too far away to properly see anything, she started trying to make her way closer. She felt the stick snap under her foot and paused. This always happened, she always stepped on a damn stick.

“I’m mad because everything is kind of falling to shit and there’s nothing I can do about it. That’s the story of life though, isn’t it?” She shot him another smile before taking a sip from her rapidly warming beer. “And I’m not the kind of girl who would say no to a cute boy wanting to buy her a drink.”
She flagged down the waiter. “I’m Lareasa, by the way.” Once the waiter reached their table she ordered herself a whiskey and then gestured to the man who’s name she still hadn’t learned.
