Jim was really nervous that afternoon. He had thought that, which each passing day, it’d become easier to be near Claire. But no. Of course no. Since she had joined the Trollhunters team, some days he would be too nervous to do anything. But how? Why? They had spent a lot of time together, it was nonsense! Why did the butterflies always come back?

“It’s everything alright, Master Jim?”

“Uh?”

He went back to the present, to Blinky and the box full of gems. He had one on his hand, bright yellow. He couldn’t remember taking it.

“Eh, yes, I was just… thinking.”

Blinky raised an eyebrow.

“Your only preocupation right now should be these gemstones. Some of the carvings have faded over time and it’s imperative that we find out what their powers are.”

Jim checked his phone. Blinky sighed.

“But of course your mobile device is more interesting.”

“It’s Claire.” Jim said. “She says she’ll be late.”

Blinky noticed how relieved Jim was and started to understand what was going on.

“What? She’ll be late and you’re calmer, as if you don’t really want to see her.”

“It’s not that.” Jim put the yellow gem in his Amulet, which glew in the same shade. “I’m freaking out because, no matter how much time we spend together…” he activated the armor. “… I still get those butterflies in my stomach.”

Random fun but useless Jim headcanon!

So we know that at some point Jim played baseball as there are pictures of him at bat hanging in the house.

I'm going to assume he was pretty decent at it. He still retains some pitching and batting skills. There was the scene where he hit the amulet well outside of his backyard, and pitching technique which he uses to fling daylight occasionally while fighting.

We know that Jim currently doesn't play any sports at all though. Why? Well, we see in several occasions starting late in season 1, that Jim's right shoulder bothers him.

It's my headcanon that he injured his shoulder playing baseball, which is not out of the realm of possibility as overuse injury is common in pitchers, and had to stop playing because of that. Then comes his trollhunting training and fights; and between the training really ramping up, the intensity and frequency of fights increasing, and having his arm wrenched back a couple of times, that old injury has been re-aggravated. Hence the painful shoulder rolling, and as someone with shoulder issues I can totally sympathize.

Their head-canon is that Jim played baseball as a kid and injured his shoulder in the process and had to stop.  I was instantly inspired!! There is so much storyline potential here ♥♥♥ For example, what if he threw out his arm for the winning pitch but is not telling his team. Everyone is celebrating, but Jim is in so much pain he’s just holding it together. Later in the bathroom he’s leaning against the wall crying until Toby finds him. At the hospital Barbara has to tell him that he won’t be throwing anymore  ╥﹏╥    I’m working on drawings for this, but not sure yet when they’ll be done ^^ ❤ Easter eggs: The Arcadia logo has a sword through it. The 16 is in honour of the year that Trollhunters came out (2016) and my friends started boarding on the show
