♡ Heute, habe ich mehr „Die Kaiserin“ geschaut (es ist wie eine Krankheit, ich bin heimgesuchte)

♡ Ich sah auf Pinterest dass, sollte man die 600 gemeinsamsten Wörter in eine Sprache lernen also, habe ich eine Liste von Wörtern gefunden und ich werde ihnen über die nächsten Tage lernen. Habe ich mit der Verben angefangen (107 Verben bis jetzt). Breaking my hiatus to bring everyone’s attention to the fact that Cornwall is now attempting to be officially recognised as a nation within the United Kingdom.

Kernow has its own language, culture, history and identity. The language was forcibly removed by the English until the last monolingual speaker died in 1777–her name was Dolly Pentreath. It has existed as a kingdom before England had ever existed. Historically, Cornwall has been a place exploited for minerals and resources and labour. Currently, it still is. There are now ghost towns where once thriving fishing villages stood (Mousehole, Pentreath’s home, was one of these). Cornwall is now a playground for second home owners who drive up house and rent prices and drive out permanent residents and workers. Local businesses go out of business and struggle to stay afloat when the influx of tourists come who only purchase from supermarkets, putting nothing into the local economy. There is a long, long and often very gruesome and bloody history behind this—leaders of rebellions executed all the way into 1715.

♡ Ich habe viele Videos auf YouTube gesehen - von die Kanals Deutsch mit Reike und Mr Nippon. Auch, habe ich Staffel zwei der Sendung „Die Kaiserin“ auf Netflix geschaut (ich mag die Geschichte)

♡ Ich habe zehn Seiten mehr von „Die Verwandlung“ gelesen

♡ Wegen einem Überschuss von Tomaten, entschied ich Chutney mit Tomaten, Apfel und Zweibel zu kochen. Ich habe eine deutsche Rezept genutzt (die Verbindung ist darunter diesen Wörter)

♡ Heute, habe ich mehr YouTube geschaut. Ich sah Videos der Kanals Y-Kollektiv, Judithe Barthomeuf (eine Deutsch und Französisch Lehrerin aus Frankrreich) und Storytime Auf Deutsch. Ich fand es sehr komisch ein deutsches Video über Sprachenlernen während Deutsch lernen zu sehen haha

♡ Ich habe zehn Seiten des Buches „Die Verwandlung“ von Franz Kafka gelesen. Nach habe ich aufgehört, werde ich neue Wörter überlegen aber, ich will nicht jetzt meinen Strom zu ruinieren

♡ Ich habe auf meinem Spanischkurz in die Universität registriert. Diese dauertet eine Weile also, könnte ich nicht viel Deutsch studieren

♡ Ich habe den Film „Spieleabend“ auf Netflix gesehen - mit deutschen Untertitel

♡ Morgen, kaufte ich Post-its und ich habe ihnen durch meinem Haus geklebt (blau für maskulin, orange für neuter und rosa für feminin)

♡ Während Geschirr spülen, hörte ich auf YouTube Videos von Easy German und Musik von Lina Bó (ihr neues Album „Das Leben is ne Straße“ gefällt mir sehr gut). Ich fand dieses Video von Easy German (https://youtu.be/ehGZaU0EmpQ?si=XCg8ewwFrALXBqre) besonders interessant weil erinnert mich es dass sind okay ausländische Akzente zu haben

Watched part of L'auberge Espagnole, I can't focus on films lately for some reason, I'll get back to it, but I'm finding this film much easier re: audio processing and comprehension without subtitles

Irish 🇮🇪

Watched Féileacán from the short films playlist, another sad one 😔

German 🇩🇪

Watched a video from this channel - calling it comprehensible input would be a stretch but language learning is a topic I know very well so I followed along as best I could with the cognates I knew

Ancient Greek 🇬🇷

Finished the chapter on important facets of Greek verbs and started the chapter on the present and future active indicative verb conjugations

❀𝒩𝒾𝒸𝒽𝓉𝓈 𝒩𝓊𝓇 𝒟𝑒𝓊𝓉𝓈𝒸𝒽❀

Since I‘ve been in Spain for the entire month of July, working as an au pair for the second time (I‘ll try to make a post about my castellano progress soon), I feel that I‘ve really neglected my Deutsch and my degree is starting back up in October so I should really get back to it. Therefore, I‘ve decided to do a week of studying nothing but German. I will let myself continue with non-linguistic hobbies but I must listen to/ watch a piece of German-language media whilst doing so. Essentially, no English language (or any other language) music, YouTube videos, films or TV shows. I will allow myself to keep to my original reading schedule (my current reads are in English) because I only have one German-language book in my possession at the moment but otherwise… nichts nur Deutsch!

My plans for the week:

♡ Watch easier beginner YouTube videos to start with and gradually increase the difficulty throughout the week

♡ Watch tv shows and film (I want to get around to Im Westen nichts Neues (2022) since I read the book - albeit an English translation - last year and thought it was excellent, I also really like Daniel Brühl haha)

♡ Bake something using a recipe in Deutsch

♡ Go through my saved pins on my Pinterest language board and actually learn the vocab

♡ Post-it note my entire house to get used to household nouns and their genders

♡ Listen to new songs *please tell me if you have any Deutschsprachigen artists because I know so few and need to broaden my horizons*

♡ Read a bit of my copy of Die Verwandlung by Franz Kafka (it‘s a parallel Deutsch/ English text so I won‘t have to constantly consult a dictionary)

♡ Write my updates on this blog in Deutsch (they will be a grammatical nightmare but I‘ll never improve if I don‘t try)

I‘ve been using the Quick Start course on Transparent Languages (free with a library card – check it out!) but I‘m coming to the end of it and there’s no Upper Beginners or owt like that as far as I can see. Basically if you know of anything free that isn’t Duolingo or completely ruined by AI, please let me know! Diolch ♡

Spanish idiom of the day: "de Herodes a Pilato", from Herod to Pilate. Referencing the passion of Christ as related in the Gospels, where Jesus is sent back and forth between different magistrates. Commonly used to describe similar situations of being pushed around from person to person and place to place, specifically when dealing with customer or public services.
