This is a short trailer for my upcoming graphic novel HATEPARADER.  I am using a wider than usual “Wide screen format” for my comic so an open spread equals the framed panels that you see onscreen. 

I drew my illustrations in layers so that I would be able to come back and animate individual layers. I did my sketches and layouts with ink on paper and then drew them digitally using photoshop. I animated my layers in photoshop and then exported the scenes as .mp4′s. I imported the mp4′s into iMovie and added fade to black transitions and the soundtrack I had previously recorded using my own sounds in Audacity (free software) for my previous title tests.  In the future, Id like to use a proper animation program to smoothen out the action between frames so its not so choppy. I would also like to use adobe premiere instead of iMovie as that would also give me more control over simple things like having the fade to black transitions a little slower etc.  Going forward, I have to consider my layouts as if they are meant to be animated so that I draw my setting alone, without characters and then add my characters and actions etc, on separate layers in case of possible animation later.

This is my test for the abstract trailer i am creating for my comic HATEPARADER. I am using a set pattern of editing of starting in black and fading into a shot, showing a stationary scene, and fading back to black, that I enjoyed in one of the trailers for David Lynch’s ERASERHEAD. I am behind in scenes but wanted to test the intro titles and fade along with creating the soundtrack that would go along with it.

Iphoto for animation and soundtrack compilation.  I imagine these as full wall projections in a dark room with surround sound speakers.

Pocket Art Generator V.2 (Process Documentation) I went back to the pages of pocket photos I had stored in Flickr, downloaded them individually and arranged them in Imovie. For the soundtrack, I went back to the output track I had compiled, grabbed a small selection, stretched the time and tempo to create more of a drone-like track with less variation and more hum to support the color swatch images.

I created about 34 different glitches and saved each png. opened them all in photoshop and created an animated gif from the layers. This is using copyrighted artwork i created for this years upcoming Florida Day of the dead, Dia de los Muertos Celebration in Fort Lauderdale, Florida on November 2nd, 2019

Day of the Dead Blur glitch using BITMAP SORTER . I created about 22 different glitched images made to look like blurred paint. Collected them in a layered file and created an animated gif from the slides.
