Next time in LA
All in all, LA was a great trip and there are many things we would do when we come back. The first is rent a car to explore more of California, even if it is just for one day. Ubers were great but it really limited you to the area, and felt very expensive, even though renting a car and paying for parking would have been pricey as well.
I also personally would like to spend more time in Silver Lake, instead of DTLA. It is closer to Hollywood and there are alot of great restaurants. However, not sure if Lauren agrees with me on that!
In DTLA, there is this cool bar called Clinton's cabinet of curiosities. It sounds like there is so much to see there, like a replica of a red wood tree and the world oldest continuously running neon sign.
Finally - I would love to stay along the beach longer and rent a surf board.
Overall great trip and excited to see more!

Day 4 and 5: From concrete jungle to surfing Bohemia
The difference between DTLA and Venice was pretty stark. We moved from towering office buildings to 70's beach motels in 30 minutes. All over surfers were carrying their boards, and there were vintage shops. We spent our first day travelling by bike. Our tour guide brought us to the famous canals and walkways pointing out famous peoples homes. She obviously had great pride for her home town as she explained the many murals, muscle beach and the Santa Monicas pier. Needless to say, we were exhausted by the end of the day, and went to bed soon after we had a nice roof top sunset drink and taco dinner.
The next day, I went surfing as Lauren slept in and had an unsuccessful whole foods trip to find gluten free food. As predicted, the 2 hours of surfing was grueling but I was proud to catch and sucefully ride a 6 ft wave. The instructor was pretty stoked. By the end of the excursion, muscles hurt that I didn't know existed. Next time I go surfing I need to work out extensively. The instructor said if I want to get a surf boars a 8 ft fun board would probably suit me.
Even though we were dead tired, we took the hour long trek to checkout Santa Monica. As we thought it was pretty touristy, though I have to say the buskers along 3rd street promenade were especially bad, such as an Asian woman doing religious Christmas songs out of key ans preteens singing there hearts out to classic rock covers, like the mama's and papa's.

Day 3: Action packed movie day
We were glad to get up early today and get a head start on all the rides at Universal Studios. By the time we arrived at 8:30, there was already a line up to get in the park! Fortunately we had express passes so we didn't have to wait long at all to get on the rides. We felt a little bad as we passed the people who were waiting as long as two hours to go on a 1 to 5 minute ride. Our favourite ride was the Mummy returns, but also enjoyed Harry Potter world and the Waterworld show.
Afterwards, we went to the walk of fame and spent a good 15 minutes looking at the Chinese theater and the hand prints. Unfortunately, there wasn't much to excite us.
I am currently writing this post in the back of an Uber going back to the Hotel. Unfortunately, we hit traffic and what we anticipated being a 15 minute ride is going to be almost 40 minutes! Our driver is taking a lot of back roads so hopefully we will be back soon. We have a show at the Comedy Store to get to. - Bobby Lee and friends.
