I understand that life has changed us
As we struggle for words to say

This time last year, I didn’t know how he felt about me. I hoped, I wished, I prayed, I shut my eyes and pleaded to my conscience, that he saw me the way I saw him. He drove through Altamont traffic, across the bridge, from the East of the city to the west. Some weeks, I would spend 5, 6, 7 days until I saw him again. Even through the uncertainty I felt, our weekends were ours. Just us. Devotion to one another pledged through time. There were a few times we laid in Lindley Meadow. Shared food, read books, he slept on my chest. A soccer ball hit his back from kids who were kicking around near us. He didn’t wake up. It was just us.

The smell of myself
Makes me sick
When it’s not mixing
With what’s inside of you

Come on, don't leave me it can't be that easy, babe
If you believe me I guess I'll get on a plane
Fly to your city excited to see your face
Hold me, console me and then I leave without a trace

With a temper like you
Run around like you
Jumping in the pool
Like you
Sing to all her pets
In the way I did
Be sensitive
Like you
