I've been writing for what seems like forever but am just now starting to take it seriously. So I thought I would share some fhe things that my life is about, my story. Read it or not, but it'll be out there, told.

Avoiding theme parks and starbucks
Ugghhh... that feeling when you're on a roller coaster climbing to the top to start the ride. You know, the one when you're thisclose to puking everywhere. That feeling of your stomach in your throat when you're entirely certain you're facing your imminent death at the hands of this coaster and you're immediately regretting getting on the ride in the first place. You know that feeling? I'm there.

I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you’re wonderful, and don’t forget to make some art — write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can.

Why, thank you, Universe
Do you have any idea, Lauren, of how fast things can change for the better? "Oh, hey, Lauren, nice apartment, car, independance, goals &creativity! . . . Must be nice." - the Universe
Actually, Universe, I did kinda notice things looked a little different around here...

Facebook for more than just stalking?!
Oh, facebook. I just spent the last hour (I know I should've been doing something productive) looking through old pictures on facebook. I think I even saw one picture that was about ten years old.
Looking through all these old pictures doesn't just make me reminisce. While browsing through I saw a lot of people/places/things that aren't in my life anymore. Some for good reasons, some not. Some I miss terribly (if even for the wrong reason) while other's I'm glad to be freed of.
It shows a nice timeline. When, who, where. Maybe facebook's stalking capabilities can be used for more than just that.
It's interesting the things that have changed. The people that have come and gone and the many, many places that I have taken up residence if only for a short time.
While it wasn't depressing it did show me what was important. Who had been there in that picture from ten years ago that I miss so much today. Some friends are supposed to come and go and some aren't. Some are meant to stand the test of time, drama, pms, babies, marriages, arugments, etc.
Having all the many different experiences I've been blessed to see in my life layed out in front of me almost at once demands a reevaluated perspective.
Of all the things I saw, I have to say, I love my life now. I've been some interesting places, had an interesting life and am pretty damn happy and proud of where I am now.
All day someone could sit and say "what if" but "Any romanticized versions of how things 'might have been,' are usually based upon fictionalized versions of the past"- Mike Dooley.
I have found this to be undeniably true. I appreciate who I've been and I love who I am now. All in all I'd say things are perfect for me, for right now.
All the ups and downs and ins and outs.... appreciate where you are when you're there, cherish the past and look forward to the future.
Cherish the people who love you most and treat you right. Don't be afraid to walk away from something you know will only ever hurt you.
And mostly, be at ease with your decisions in life; if you're not, fix it. It has taken me a long time to realize that I am the only one writing my story.

Parker's 1st "published" short story
A little cowboy went in deep water and a scary fish ate him! The little cowboy turned pssshhhh!!! So strong! Like me! Then the scary fish got so big and the cowboy punched him right here (gesturing to his tummy). Then the scary fish got humongous and got a lot of snakes in his mouth and the cowboy shrinks so little. And then the fish blew up! Cause the cowboy put a lot of robot bombs in him. The scary fish turned into a robot scary fish.
The End
