Something that's been incredibly exhausting about posting in online pagan and polytheist spaces (or just generally online, tbh) is that it feels like you're constantly walking on eggshells. If you say even just slightly the Wrong Thing™, it feels like you're almost guaranteed to have someone harp on why you're dumb or wrong or weird or whatever. This has been happening a lot to my friends in the Norse pagan community recently, and it's part of why I try VERY hard to be careful with my words. If you create a space where people don't feel comfortable expressing themselves freely, yet claim to stand for freedom, then you've already become the thing you've sworn to destroy.
This post isn't meant to discourage others from posting in pagan and polytheist spaces; it's aiming to draw attention to a massive issue (that likely prevents people from sharing, actually) of people being quick to judge, always on guard, always waiting for the next "attack". A lot of the time, in my experience, people have good or harmless intentions, yet they'll be misconstrued as some kind of monster. It's kind of ridiculous at this point.
-
***Since I KNOW someone is going to mention this, I'm not talking about posts that are, like, from Nazis or transphobes or similar; I'm talking about things like devotional poetry, sharing quotes from ancient texts (yes, people are really getting hate for such a harmless act), or even just sharing parts of one's practice. The fact that I even have to add this disclaimer feels like part of the problem, in all honesty.***

A god to consider: Iris 🌈🪽
Before the messenger Hermes, there was a different servant god who carried the words of Olympus to and thro, and her name is Iris. Daughter of the titan Thaumas, and the oceanid Electra, the colorful goddess, and personification of the rainbow, personal assistant to Zeus, Iris is a sort footed, golden winged goddess who carries out the tasks and messages of her master. In the Iliad, when Zeus sends the notice of death to Priam of his son, Iris is the one sent to inform him. Later, she would become more aligned with her loyalty to hera, becoming her envoy, and being the one who commanded lyssa to inflict Heracles with the frenzy that caused him to murder his sons at heras request. Despite this side of her, Iris is also the patron restorer of peace in nature, and the divine deliverer of heavenly messages and gifts. In modern times, some also associate her with creativity and inspiration, especially in artistry, the colors of which she is the embodiment of. Next time you see a rainbow, say a thank you to Iris, and open an ear to see if you might hear a message she carries for you…
If you wish to learn more about Iris, consider referring to the sources and stories I’ve listed below! If you wish to learn more about the gods of Hellen, and the stories of Greek Mythos, consider giving my blog a follow. I post about Hellenism and more daily. Blessed be your day.💙🏛️💙

🫧The Importance of Epithets🫧
Adhara's post introduction: Hello, lovebugs! Today's post is about epithets! Hope you guys like it! I've always found Epithets something essential in my practice, so I wanted to share some knowledge and information for you guys!!
🎐What are Epithets?
🦢 Throughout ancient Greek writing and mythology, there is something known as epithets. The definition of epithet is repeated descriptive adjectives or phrases linked to a specific character, either a God or Hero, that are used to describe a specific characteristic of they hold.
🎐 What is the importance of the Epithets?
🦢 Epithets are important not only to know more about your Deity, but also to know what type of works they do with their devotees, and also to know which energy you may resonate more with.
🎐 How to know which Epithet I'm working with my Deity?
🦢 First, I recommend you to do multiple researches about your Deity, then see which one resonates more with you, then you ask them for confirmation, it's best if you have the Epithets in hand and go through it with your Deity, especially if you don't feel your intuition pushing you towards an specific epithet.
🎐 What are examples of Epithets, and what they can mean to me?
🦢 Here's some examples of Epithets and their meanings and what they could mean in works (from my perspective, of course):
- Aphrodite Areia, the warlike. A surname of Aphrodite, when represented in full armour like Ares, as was the case at Sparta: It can help at getting more confident in yourself and getting through challenges.
- Athena Paeonia(Paiônia), i. e. the healing goddess, was a surname of Athena, under which she had a statue at Athens, and an altar in the temple of Amphiaraus at Oropus: It can help through mental and physical traumas and how to live past them.
- Hekate Atalos; the tender-hearted, or Hekate the delicate: Helps through understanding that even if you're powerful, you can still be kind and soft-hearted.
- Ares Aphneiós; rich, wealthy: It can help with finances, such as saving and controlling your money better.
- Demeter Brimo;(Brimô), the angry or the terrifying, occurs as a surname of several divinities, such as Hecate or Persephone: It can help understanding where your anger comes from.
🎐 Are all Epithets usable in our worshipping?
🦢 That's a tricky question, some Epithets were used in a specific part of Greece or another place, so they may not be fit for some of us.
If you like my posts and are in need of a tarot reading, I have a ko-fi!!! Also, feel free to ask me anything, especially advice and tips! I'll try my best to help you ^~^

“You well know I’m a fan of catchy songs…”
This was a DTIYS entry for Carianti (@cariantidraws on instagram)
Apollo design is mine (had to BE FAST but I like the way he came out), but the harp is heavily inspired by hers!

What to put in your hellenic journal and why it helps
Building a kharis with gods using a religious journal is really helpful. It helped me keep my information and my thoughts related to the Gods organized. It can also help beginners if they are uncomfortable reciting hymns out loud.
What could be put inside it:
Every day write one delphic maxim and write how you interpret it or what you think about it
Make a shopping list for your altar and offerings
Compose prayers
Hymns/ prayers to your patrons and Hestia, Nyx, Helios, Hypnos
Write something as if you are conversating with the Gods.
Important information on deities
Favorite offerings, incenses, and libations of the Gods
Important Callendar events, festivals, and key info on celebration
Quotes from the most famous books of Gods that you relate to or want to remember
Instructions on composing prayers
What afterlife means in Hellenismos
What defines hubris, agos and miasma
7 pillars of Hellenismos and their meaning
Do some drawings for the Gods as a devotional act
Include your personal experiences with the divine and how it affected you
Write down the signs you saw during the week
You can also decorate it with the images of Gods
Delphic Maxims:

FIVE YEARS WITH THE GODS: what I've learned
Don't fixate on the notion of being "called" by a particular deity or "claimed" by them. It'll only lead to confusion, misinterpretation, or disappointment. Instead, pay attention to your gut. What feels right? What names, symbols, or spheres of influence resonate with you or intrigue you?
Sometimes, we are presented with or drawn to gods we may not expect. In this case, we often need to look past the superficial aspects of a deity to understand why we feel drawn to them.
You will develop an insatiable appetite for knowledge, but let yourself digest information and experiences before proceeding to something new. Set aside time to reflect on your learning. Journaling is the perfect complement to research.
Make sense of your own perceptions and ideas before digging too deeply into the perceptions of others.
Our paths will inevitably wander into unfamiliar fields. Enjoy the journey. Make room for new modes of belief.
You will feel like a beginner for a long time. This is a good sign; it means you're growing something profound...and staying humble.
You are almost always overthinking things.
Feeling stressed out over your spirituality is not a good sign. Adjust accordingly and convey your thoughts to the gods as you go.
It's okay to release a deity from your practice. This does not make you a failure or a terrible person. Relationships change, and so do you.
You will need breaks from your practice. Spirituality is not a side hustle; let go of your guilt and rest.
Doubt and skepticism will be steadfast companions on your journey. Question everything.
In the end, your path belongs to you alone. No one else has power over what you practice.
