This is something I haven't seen mentioned yet regarding Moon Knight, but is something I feel may be important enough to make a post about. See, Moon Knight is a show about a character who has DID, and so far according to many systems it's done an okay job of representing the disorder. Hooray, more representation! This may lead to less stigmatization of this often misunderstood disorder. However... That's not the only thing that may result from this new show being out.
Please remember that with representation of a disorder often comes an uptick in diagnoses of the disorder. We may very well be seeing more people learning they have DID in the future thanks to increased awareness of what it's like! This has happened before in our community with media such as with Sybil, and we-I wouldn't be surprised if it happened again. With Moon Knight's representation of DID, especially from a large and widely beloved franchise such as Marvel, it's likely that DID as a whole will become more well known in a more positive light, leading to more psychiatrists and psychologists willing to diagnose their patients with it, as well as more people who may come to learn that they might have DID (and not to mention people who might have been previously diagnosed with DID who come out about having it due to positive representation making it safer for them to do so).
Please do not be surprised if more people come forward about having DID following the release and continuation of Moon Knight. Despite what might be your gut instinct, they're likely not "claiming to have it as part of a fad due to the show," but rather, were only recently diagnosed or felt safe enough to come out due to Moon Knight's influence. And that's a good thing! More people will be able to learn important things about themselves or share important things with those they care about.
In conclusion, Moon Knight's DID representation may lead to more people being diagnosed with and/or coming forward about having DID. Remember to be kind to those new in our communities, and don't fakeclaim other systems!

I haven’t seen anyone talking about it so I wanna make a post- the switch that happens when Marc can’t solve the star puzzle and he concedes that he needs Steven so he tells Steven “ok you’re in” and you can /see/ the expression change and his mouth line becomes more upturned and his eyes wider and it’s not dramatic or played out it’s just a simple “tag your it” kinda switch and when I tell you I cried because god Damn it I just, I’ve never seen a switch in a system on tv look like our switches before and it made me so so happy

Okay, having watched the coverage, I'm actually optimistic. I was of the opinion that Biden dropping out would be disaster, but now I think it might actually be a good thing.
The following things should be noted:
While the media keeps pointing out that it is possible someone will challenge Harris for the nomination,
The media desperately wants a Dems In Dissarray angle, and they're not giving it to them.
I don't know if they had time to compare notes, but EVERY Dem I heard was right on the "Prosecutor vs. Felon" angle.
The timing is BEAUTIFUL. Nobody's talking about the GOP Convention, nobody's talking about the assassination.
Donations are rolling in. (If you can, donate NOW.)
Trump put a lot of work making the campaign about Biden's age. He... might not be glad he did.
Black women are the most reliable voters in the party. So. Yeah.

I genuinely hope American media sucks for a while! I hope the big companies keep trying to churn out shit and that it’s all embarrassing garbage! I want it to be extremely apparent to everyone how important the writers and actors are to create good media and that they deserve to be compensated appropriately!!!

It is so wild to me that the Trigun manga was just on the fringe of the fandom before Tristamp, with ‘98 being the main focus.
I can see how it happened–when the anime was airing, anime was way more niche than it is now, and not everyone would have had easy access to buying it. And if you wanted to read it online… good luck, as someone who was in those forum/Livejournal/Yahoo Groups trenches. Someone on translating your favorite manga was so much work, and it was incredibly uncommon for people to scan officially released manga back then. And from what I hear, the first scanlation was awful, willfully mistranslating things and painting the story and characters in a terrible light. By the time the full manga was released, many of the original fans probably moved on. It’s very different from the first anime, and for the younger audience that likely saw it, maybe a bit too much!
But now that Tristamp has thrust us all into Trimax hell, I deeply understand why Trimax Vash is one of the most common Vashes I see popping up in fanart and such. I love and am feral for ‘98 and Tristamp, you’ll find no slander for those here, but the manga stripped me down on an molecular level and rewired my entire brain and all my emotions. That story and those characters haunt me. Sometimes I’ll see a panel from the manga, not even one of the most impactful ones, and I need to take a moment to recover. I think about it daily. Though I just think about Trigun all day at this point who am I kidding. It’s so good. It’s too good. WHO GAVE IT THE RIGHT TO BE THIS GOOD.
Anyway, if you haven’t read the Trigun manga yet, go check out @trigun-manga-overhaul because you’re missing out on one of the best stories ever written.

"A submarine has gone missing" : Oh jeeze, I hope they find those people.
"A submarine visiting the wreck of the titanic has gone missing" : Well, that's a little ghoulish but I can't blame folks for a morbid curiosity, especially at a monument to white man's hubris.
"An experimental cobbled together submarine visiting the wreck of the titanic has gone missing" : Well at this point y'all were just taking your lives into your own hands and also how is 'slapped together submarine' a legal thing that's real.
"An experimental cobbled together submarine full of the absurdly wealthy visiting the wreck of the titanic has gone missing" : Okay now this just feels a little too on point someone has to be joking with me.

So, they found the wreckage of the oceangate sub. That window at the front of the sub that they advertised as being the biggest one of all the deep sea submersibles? The one that was only certified to 1,300 metres, even though they were planning on repeatedly going to depths of nearly 4,000 metres?
Yeah, well, it failed (wow what a shock. not) and there was a "catastrophic implosion," and the guys on board are dead. Like, instantly dead.
(EDIT: apparently the authorities think that it wasn't the window that failed (I'm genuinely shocked about that) but rather the hull, which, though it had made the journey down to the titanic before, had sustained damage from the pressure which hadn't been noticed/rectified. When the compromsied hull went down this time, it couldn't withstand the pressure. One expert I saw speaking said it was likely about 0.2 seconds between the breach and total implosion.)
Details are scarce at present, but the wreck has been found less than 500 metres from the wreck of the titanic, and I suspect that the implosion happened during the descent and was what caused the loss of contact (that the ship on the surface then took 8 hours to report).
(EDIT #2: yeah they're saying it imploded on descent and that was the cause of the loss of comms. Apparently the US navy heard a loud bang at the same time comms went down, too, which was in line with the kind of sound youd hear from a significant underwater implosion/explosion. This was reported to the coast guard, but as it wasn't definitive, the coast guard kept going with the search/rescue on the off chance the loud underwater explosion was something else. but from the sounds of it, those in the know knew from very early on that there would be no saving those men.)
And honestly???? I feel like spontaneous depressurisation is the kindest possible outcome for the men in question. I personally would choose an instantaneous death rather than spending over three days in a metal coffin at the bottom of the ocean waiting for the oxygen to run out, squashed into the space with 4 other people who are all panicking and defecating and urinating and vomiting in the tiny space with me.
(EDIT #3: the news this morning was saying the sub had split in two; thats incorrect apparently; it's actually in at least five pieces. When writing this post originally I had pointed out the... ironic poetry, I guess, of both the sub and the Titanic being split in two, but turns out the news had that bit wrong.)
The submersible was called the Titan, by the way. The Titan. They were insane to name it this.
So the Titan and the Titanic are now both resting at the bottom of the ocean, both split into pieces, and five more souls have been claimed by those waters. Do you think we might stop sending people down to look at the wreckage now, or nah?
