I think we also tend to overthink the highest frequencies, when most of the times they'll be completely swallowed by cymbals.
Hey Brian! This feels like a really boring question but I've been wondering this since Geneva was released: How do you go about EQing your tone? I truly don't understand how you're able to use so much dirt with an aluminum neck instrument and somehow come out with a low, gnarl focused tone instead of the usual clicky high end bite and zazzle. Thank you for everything!
Thanks for the kind words on the bass tone!
Yeah, the click high end bite and zazzle (what a great word... i'm gonna steal that) is the enemy. I worry about it constantly, especially since I always play with earplugs and assume I'm not hearing some of the higher abrasive frequencies. But I also play with some sort of distortion for 95% of the set, so I tend to dial in my amps around the distorted sounds as opposed to the clean sounds. I think that's the trick.

calling every instance of showing certain emotions "emotional labor" needs to stop. I just saw a post that was like "reminder that you do not ever need to be a good or kind person" like. Yes you DO???
