there’s a few different ways to write midague but one of my current ideas i’ve been thinking abt is like,, midas is so blinded by his own greed he doesn’t realize he has everything he needs: a lover, his daughter, and his friends. midas has just escaped the underworld and is thrust into an unfamiliar island where he no longer holds any power. who else holds no power on the island anymore? the (now broken up) society. midas and montague, having similar values, decide to work together to reinstate that society (classic midague business partners to lovers type thing yk.) midas goes along with it even going as far as to start a romance with montague to get more information from him. midas plays his part so well that even jules and his agents believe it, (but is he reaaally acting?) and they’re happy for him. they think that montague has helped midas change, helped him think of someone other than himself. things are going great for him, really. he’s begun to repair his relationship with jules and spreading his influence across the island has gone smoothly. now imagine, montague’s amulet can repress midas’s golden touch and when he realizes this, he has it stolen. except. the amulet is bound to montague, so it doesn’t work for midas. midas is desperate for any power he can get his hands on, so instead of just letting the matter go, he kills montague so the amulet is now bound to him. midas has what he wanted: control over both his golden touch and the diamond power from the amulet, but all he can feel is the overwhelming grief and regret from what he’s done. once jules learns of what he’s done, she’s furious and almost feels betrayed. she thought that he’d changed, but she realizes he’s still just as selfish as ever. midas is left alone, his relationship with jules permanently damaged as well.
