mercy seems like a long shot here, so my prayer for inauguration day 2025: may they be incompetent. may they just be really bad at implementation. may their egos choke their effectiveness. may they drown themselves week by week with infighting and selfish posturing. may they be easily distracted. may the very governors and senators and agencies and religious leaders that the new administration expects to be friendly force endless stalemates to preserve their own power. may every delay turn into a three ring blame circus so chaotic that no one remembers what they were doing. may the good and necessary parts of government be too boring to draw attention and keep running quietly in the background. may the next four years be full of sound and fury and signify nothing.

Canadians: we need to pay attention to, like, literally the country we live in, however each of us may or may not engage with what's happening south of the border. Especially during the LPC leadership race, the inevitable federal election, and whatever comes afterward.

In addition to countless more materially consequential harms he's caused since acquiring what used to be the microblogging platform, Musk has neutered Twitter in its capacity as what used to be the most unpredictable, funny cognitohazard to ever be unleashed upon the bourgeoisie. For shame. 😔

Bluesky's image saving behaviour in Android (→ …/DCIM/, instead of, say, → …/Pictures/Bluesky/), is just goofy?
Like, I know, Bluesky's handling of images generally is silly, but who wants random images from an app to be thrown in where most photo viewers will lump them in with taken photos?

If I try to comment someone's reblog on here that only added tags, can I comment on that reblog, or will my comment go onto the last "substantive" reblog?

If you're able-bodied, ≤½ the width of an escalator, and aren't, like, supervising a child who can't stay still or carrying a bunch of stuff: please get out of the middle of the escalator and let people walk past you. Please.
Or sidewalk. Or hallway. Or anything else; same principle, really.

Whenever I see the word "folksy", my brain usually reads it at first as "folfsky".
Definitely not extremely furry or anything, nope.

Extremely democratic democracy where the two largest parties have ≥$300k entrance fees for their leadership elections, and where what's historically been the labour party's most recent leadership elections had a $30k fee and a $1.5M spending limit,
(Sure, Canada has less gerrymandering and much more restrained political spending than the US, but it's still a dictatorship of the bourgeoisie. You just cannot meaningfully participate in electoral politics without winning the favour of a bunch of people who benefit from the current system.)
