Sometimes, I miss the age of Vocaloid which I dub the “chuunibyo age”.
I’m talking Kagerou Project, Heisei Project, Girls Labratory, Mikagura School Suite, Shuuen No Shiori, hell even the Brain Fluid Explosion Girl series.
I miss the songs that had a slightly connected storyline and the most insane music beats ever. I miss the character references to other songs and the exciting worlds these artists came up with.
Nowadays, it feels like Honeyworks and Tuyu are the only ones doing this “storyline” type songs which is… fine. But it’s definitely less chuunibyo angst and more real life, my life sucks, I hate social media, can apply to any age type angst. Which is… also fine. I mean, Mikagura School Suite did some of that too.
It’s just… I miss the tension and the confusion that came from songs like Konoha’s State of World. The insane drums from The Secret Dealer of District Four. The feeling of being cut from gravity itself in the final lines of Izayoi Seeing. Perhaps, I just miss when Vocaloids were used and you could tell they weren’t people but that was okay. Because even in their obvious robotic voices, something felt real.
I just… I miss when we could be angsty chuunibyos. That’s it.

Men use “I’m just a man” to cheat on their wives. Odysseus uses “I’m just a man” to kill, slay and torture people to get back to HIS wife. They are not the same.

i am shocked to tell you, but the most wholesome highschool romcom anime ive seen since Komi Can't Communicate is this season's Pseudo Harem.
the premise is that an actor girl has a crush on the prop guy in their drama club, and she plays little characters for him based on different anime girl archetypes. and somehow, it is written super realistically, where the characters communicate in ways that feel natural and healthy, and they have legitimate chemistry. and there's like NO anime bullshit. there's no weird unrealistic raunchy situations shoved in for no reason, there's no butt shots or panty shots or focus on boobs or nothing. they blush and stutter at the idea of holding hands. it's CRAZY how normally they treat this relationship. and like, the friendship that they have where they do bits back and forth with each other (like theater kids do) feels SO realistic it drives me crazy.
if you want to watch a cute anime that makes you smile ear to ear the whole time, i recommend Pseudo Harem.

ive found that when i say “save me [x character] save me” im usually saying it about a character that has gone through something similar to what im currently going through (ie saying Save me arthur morgan when i’m coughing horribly) and it dawned on me recently that it’s essentially the same as praying to saints for intercession

Can't believe I'm saying this but the weather is slowly changing in Gaza again and it rained quite heavily this week. Knowing this while literally 90% of Gaza's population has been displaced, many living in makeshift tents, is a terrifying thought. Since last week's rain, many people are left without a place to stay and their belongings destroyed by the rain.
The cost of tents is between $700 and $800 which is beyond practically everyone in Gaza right now. However, the Sameer Project are crowdfunding and providing these families with tents. You can help out by either donating and/or sharing their initiative with your friends and community members.

I wrote Hide as a scream of rage - from the author acknowledgements
Incredible book about a fun reality game show gone wrong how deeply and thoroughly older generations sacrificed younger ones and fucked them over in every way. So visceral and raw, I felt that scream of rage in every line. Highly recommend.

at this point, it has become ridiculously clear that anyone who supports israel is supporting one thing and one thing only: the complete eradication of palestine – and perhaps, in the future, the entirety of the middle east. we have always, always been seen as less-than by westerners. we have always been the dumping grounds for all your conflicts. we have never been allowed to flourish to our true potential. that's why israel can commit the most horrific war crimes right out in broad daylight and get away with it.
but you're all in the wrong. the way you see us is wrong. what you believe about us is wrong. and no matter what you try, you will never be able to truly erase palestine or any of our countries from history, because we carry them in our hearts and souls - two things, it turns out, that a lot of people are lacking.

Crunchyroll is firing and recasting Mob Psycho 100 Voice Actors and Staff to stop unionization efforts.
Kyle McCarley, the English Dub VA for Mob, helped organize his coworkers and is almost certainly not returning for season 3. The ADR Director of both previous seasons has also confirmed that he will not be returning to the project. If you like Mob Psycho 100, consider pirating it instead of watching it on official platforms. Also consider contacting Crunchyroll and voicing how awful it is to treat their casts this way.
