A compilation of stuff I know about drawing Asian faces and Asian culture! I feel like many “How-To-Draw” tutorials often default to European faces and are not really helpful when drawing people of other races. So I thought I’d put this together in case anyone is interested! Feel free to share this guide and shoot me questions if you have any! I’m by no means an expert, I just know a few things from drawing experience and from my own cultural background.

This tutorial has been backed by my Human Tier Patrons who have been requesting me to make a coloring tutorial. Note: This is not the correct way to color, just mine.
I mostly use this coloring method when making concept art or just coloring in quick sketches. It works well with no background as it mostly uses low opacity brushes.
Brush downloads and PSD version available to $10 Patrons!

Who’s ready for some Goretober? I have here a Goretober list made by yours truly, for all your October drawing needs! My daily prompts aren’t so much words telling you what to draw but more of something to help you imagine, what ideas will they give you? I wonder, I wonder.

Hey, those acrylic charms you posted look amazing, love how vivid the colours are! Could you possibly share where you had them made? I would love to give some acrylic charms a try later this year myself, and I'm looking for nice places to order them from.
Both the stickers and charms were ordered from Zap! Creatives ´v` They have a really broad selection of all kinds of charm types and sizes and they provide  clear instructions on how to prepare your art for print so i personally enjoyed their service!
The charms ordered from there don’t include the actual chain part so if you decide to go with Zap! you’ll have to buy the chain from someplace else, ebay and amazon are probably the cheapest options!

Has this ever been you?
Tumblr media
As artists, we can often feel like we’ve plateaued on our progress because of lack of time, or resources. Not every artist has the time to go to art classes, and not every artist has the money to attend art-school and receive a proper critique.
That’s why I’ve created this blog! Introducing the…
Tumblr media
The Redline Station is a blog that is dedicated to helping artists. If an artist is struggling with anatomy, or would like a critique on their art, they can submit the art using the SUBMIT YOUR ART button. Then, one of our moderator artists will pick up their piece and do a redline of it to help them better see the places that need fixing.
What’s a redline?
Good question!  A redline is when an artist will draw directly over a piece of art in order to show what the mistakes in anatomy are. By seeing the comparison of the art itself (at a lower opacity) and of the more accurate anatomical example, the artist can more quickly improve their drawing.
Tumblr media
Our artists will take your submitted drawing and give you a redline. They will then post it to the blog alongside the original to help you compare the two and easily see what needs to be done. It’ll look somewhat like this!
Tumblr media
Q: Can I submit anything?
A: Yes! Any type of art, human or animal is okay! The only thing that’s not okay is gore and pornography. The posts will need to be PG-13. (Kissing and suggestive scenes are okay, however.)
Q: Will you redline if the drawing is in my style?
A: Yes! Anime style, cartoony style drawings are also okay. The idea isn’t to fix the drawing to look more like ‘realism’, but to fix it to make it look more believable within the frame of style it’s already in.
Q: How many drawings can I submit for redlining?
A: For the time being, I’m the only one running the blog… In order to keep my sanity, I will accept only one submission per person and only keep submissions open for a limited time until I get more help. Which brings us to our next point…
Do you want to help me?! GOOD! Then please read the next post.
Mod applications are now open!

Current Favorite Tools Available in the Clip Database
I’ve had people ask what tools I use in Clip Studio Paint, which is hard for me to answer because I use a lot of different brushes. (If you want to know what’s used on a specific image, please give me the post’s ID number and I’ll find it on my blog and tell you!)
Here are some of my current favorite tools and brushes. I will give you the name that they are listed under so that you can find them in the clip database as well. These are listed in no particular order, because they’re all great!
Tumblr media
“Tマーカー風ブラシセット” This is a collection of fantastic tools to create work that looks like it’s a traditional marker piece.
Tumblr media
The collection contains several different tools including brushes with chisel or brush tips, blenders, and a texture you can overlay on your image to achieve the grain effect you see in traditional, scanned image. The texture is even pre-set to have the correct blending type and opacity!
For extra fun, I suggest using colour swatches from your favorite art markers in conjunction with these tools, for even more authenticity.
Overall this set is AMAZING and I love just playing with it.
Tumblr media
“カサGペン” I’ve been using these pen tools a lot lately for sketching and sketch style ‘inks’. I’m not sure if they’re intended to mimic any specific type of pen, but they’re fun to use and the line quality they produce is really nice. “エッジ鉛筆“ in particular is one of my current favorites!
Tumblr media
“水彩マーカー●▲■とテクスチャーセット“ Created by the same person who made the fantastic marker brush set, they’ve also created an amazing watercolour set! Like the marker set, it comes with several tools with different looks and effects and overlays you can put over your image (I use the ‘pigment pooling’ texture from this set a lot). There are also blenders in this as well.
Tumblr media
My favorite feature of this set and what makes it rank higher than other, similar watercolour sets is the colour blending effect. These brushes can use a single colour, or it can use both your main and sub colour, showing one colour when you press lightly and another when you put more pressure. This allows for some great depth of colour and more natural flow to the blending. Fantastic!
There’s more, but these are the things I’ve been using the most lately. I highly recommend checking out the stuff in the Clip database, you might find something you love.

If you’ve ever tried to draw a perspective grid by hand, you know that it totally sucks butts. Here’s a quick and easy way that I use that lets me establish the basic perspective of my drawing in less than 30 seconds. This is the first 3 pages of the tutorial, and the rest of it is available on my Patreon!

Soey Milk’s “Inflorescence” at Corey Helford Gallery.
Opening on Saturday, September 8th, 2018 at Corey Helford Gallery in Los Angeles, California is artist Soey Milk’s exquisite solo exhibition of new work entitled “Inflorescence.”
Milk’s masterful command of visual ecstasy endlessly delights and intrigues and for “Inflorescence,” which means ‘the art of arranging flowers on an axis,’ Soey has created an ethereal display of her own memories in various portraits, presented here as metaphorical bouquets.
Milk is one of my absolute favorite artists and this exhibition should not be missed if you’re in the Los Angeles area.  It will be on view until October 13th, 2018.
