One thing I think is very easy to overlook is how much parentification might be a core dynamic of Zuko and Azula's relationship, just like it is for Katara and Sokka. We're missing a lot of information, but a serious explanation for some of Azula's actions toward Zuko is that she's trying to fill Ursa's shoes. And Zuko sometimes seems to expect her to fill that role.
