Well, here we are.
Hello there,
Here we are. 10 days into February and the weight gain has been REAL. Now, I didn’t really closely follow Whole 30 like I intended. So, of course, once Super Bowl came around I went on a bender for a full week and just said, “F it.” Today, I stepped on the scale and saw that I had gained 4lbs. Now, the last time I weighed myself was mid way through the Whole 30 adventure and I had lost the 5 lbs that I gained over the holiday months. And now that I am dangerously close to gaining those 5 lbs back, I need to get my ass into gear.
Intermittent fasting. Starting today, I will be fasting 16 hours a day. I will remain as paleo as possible by eating clean for lunch and dinner. When the weekend arrives, I need to be more conscious of how much I am eating and what I am eating. I have been doing this yo-yo dieting for years now - truly, for as long as I can remember. I watched my mom do it forever and am now watching my dad do it. Weight is an obvious problem in my family and I don’t want to pass down these unhealthy habits to my own daughter. Hence, the urgent need for change.
What I noticed during the attempt at Whole 30 is how my body felt after eating clean for a few days. I didn’t feel bloated, fatigued or sick. However, breaking the habit of eating carbs and refined sugar is so freakin’ hard. And I don’t want to deprive myself completely, because I truly love food. I want to be able to eat dessert once or twice a week. I want to be able to eat pasta sometimes and bread. So, that’s why I am going to give this fasting thing a try and see what it does paired with a paleo diet and the occasional cheat meal once or twice a week.
Here’s to hoping. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Today... I was pretty good until I got to the store and remembered that I had ranch dip packets in my pantry. Sooo I bought sour cream, made ranch dip and ate it with some sweet potato chips... and I finished off the last of my Tillamook coffee almond fudge ice cream and brownies. Did a little bit better today on the diet. Made a chicken, broccoli, mushroom, cauliflower rice casserole with a vegan Alfredo sauce.
