"Charlotte, wait--," Katie started, reaching out a hand before slowly letting it drop. "Um, I'll come with you. I mean... If that's okay? Please. I don't think I can take another second in this house with Chris prancing around."

"I'll be back in a bit." She went walking most evenings, and tonight was no different. Anything to clear her head, to attempt to forget. She needed to forget. Whoever had said that time healed all wounds was a liar. "No need to wait for me."

"She said she was sorry-," Katie repeated, the warning clear in her voice. The last thing she needed was to be involved in a scrap before lunch. When they conceded, she turned to Sophia with a look of exasperation. "Not sorry?"

"Oh dear, was that worth a lot? What an utter shame. I'm so sorry."

So What Happened?

Okay, so here’s the long and short of it. Katie had grown up in a big, loving, werewolf family. She moved to thee supernatural haven in the country where everyone held hands and lived in harmony. Katie had never dealt with bad hunters. With anyone who would try to hurt her because she was a werewolf.

Timing is everything, right? More hunters flood into Havensdale, more supernaturals flood into Havensdale. Katie is threatened and hurt by Dean Argent. She tries to help fellow werewolf Andrew Choi and ends up captured and caged by Sean Mitchell. She gets angrier and angrier. She feels more and more lost.

Enter Taylor Salazar: the elusive big sister. And Taylor had news about something that was coming about someone who was coming. Frederick Bellefonte was an Original werewolf, just like the stories and he would make sure that Katie- and all werewolves- never had to be afraid again. And just like that, Katie’s fate was sealed.

They knew that something was going to happen on Founder’s Day but they never expected it to be so... Violent. Even she was violent, seeing red when Dean was there and this time, she had been training. Working with Frederick to shift their teeth and claws outside of the moon. But the rest of it, the casualties--- Frederick said it was a risk they had to take working with the vampires. Frederick said it would get better.

Katie lives conflicted. On the one hand, Frederick kept his promise about them being safe. He made sure they were taken care of. She doesn’t agree with all the methods and she doesn’t like everyone who’s involved in this (it’s means to an end, they think).

What keeps her going, is helping fellow werewolves who have had bad experiences with hunters, who never had a pack. Who have a family now. Things aren’t black-and-white anymore, you know? Life is nothing but shades of grey.
