Lulea By Chesneau
So excited to share this editorial shot for luxury leather brand Lulea By Chesneau!
Inspired by the classic aesthetic of the Lulea Mini me, it was clear why the brand is one to watch out for, a sense of pride accompanies wearing a Lulea piece as luxury is the end-game no matter what the price point. Timeless pieces in quirky styles are an accessory for the ultimate cool girl.
The heart however of the brand is in it’s ethics and philosophy; using locally…

In this world of social media where people are more of personal brands; learning to slow down is my big lesson. It’s easy to feel like a small fish in a big sea when the next person displays qualities you can only dream of, how does one feel unique when the lack of boundaries is the new box and everyone’s checked it. I’m trying hard to not reach out for my phone to capture every fleeting moment…

finding home.
This concept was inspired by our Asian heritage & Kenyan roots; I consider myself equal parts both and I get to enjoy the rich culture and fashion that accompanies them, Indian fashion entices me with rich pure silk saris passed down from generations to generations, intricate detailing in embroidered jackets and handmade jewelry bringing out the industrious nature of the people creating this…

summer loving
Summer is my security blanket in this time of craziness, The waves of uncertainty have passed with time, last year is something we do not consider much. New year new me ringing in the air even now, almost two months in, There’s not much I know about the world- I am but a child, what I do know is the comfort of loved ones and the beauty of discovering what it is that makes…

Quartz
Pantone’s colors of 2016 – Serenity and Rose Quartz although more muted than last year’s earthy Marsala, these colors are equally as inspiring as their last year’s bold counterpart. Where Serenity is cool and collected- exuding elegance and an aura of “being put together”, Rose Quartz speaks volumes to me, Rose Quartz is poetry, connecting you with your surroundings and rouses a sense of…

The mix of cultures in the fashion industry has been spilled over from last year and although going on for years its presence is felt now more than ever. With wax prints sported all over the Americas (see here) to vintage tea cups apparently inspiring Indian bridal wear (see here) it is safe to say cultural globalization can be deemed as one of 2016’s go to fashion trend. NB: please be aware and…

19.
I have been re-writing this post for the past two weeks, two weeks since I turned 19. Birthdays are funny; they put things into perspective, summarizing the significance of one more year, the end of a new beginning. This past year was special, a constant uphill battle and hands down the biggest learning experience I have had till now. I have met a lot of people this year and whether they were…

I woke up this morning to the news of the attacks in Paris And although the city is far away from home, the fear is felt within our homes, within our streets, within our malls 3753 miles away. You see it doesn't matter where in the world we are these attacks are not on specific countries or people, these are are attacks on the entire human race.
But you already know this.
You see this situation is eerily familiar not only to me,
but to most of you who read this. Familiar situation 17 years ago when the US embassy in Nairobi was attacked by bombings, everyone was worried, everyone was panicking, the people in buildings right next to it; they got lucky.
I was 2.
You see, 2 years ago when the world was celebrating international peace day,
reality had settled in after days of terrorism fuelled killings in a mall less than 5 miles away from home, 150 more people died. Parents said goodbye to their daughter for the very last time, she was not even 16.
You see this situation is not new, 16 months ago ISIS declared Iraqi territory, Israeli, Palestinian teenagers killed for a reason I had just learnt about in my Cold War history class dating back more than 50 years ago, long before them or perhaps their parents were even born. They didn't get lucky.
I was seventeen.
You see, around 17 days after I got accepted into a university in my home country, 147 students in another town were brutally killed in an education facility that was supposed to be a safe haven. When their prayers for a better life were in those very books, they were massacred by extremists who twisted the words of their holy books justifying that the blood of this young generation would take them to heaven.
That could have been me.
You see, when the very books we pray to were torn in sacrilegious actions 22 days ago in Punjab, it stopped being about religion. You see when the sounds of fireworks on Diwali and the suicide bombings in Lebanon and Baghdad had the same ring in my ears, it stopped being about religion. You see when the actions of one crazy man in the land down under was blamed on a whole religion it stopped being about religion.
But you already know this.
You see when one in every five college women in America is sexually assaulted and is blamed for it based on the clothes she was wearing it stops being about religion. when innocent young boys are shot at sight based on the color of their skin it stops being about religion You see when my friend cannot question our ignorance without being called haram it stops being about religion
or anything for that matter.
You see it's all happened for so long, we've forgotten how not to play the blame game anymore we've learnt how to point fingers at everyone; race, religion, media, even God himself. Posts of dead humanity everywhere, remembering the magnitude of the earthquake in Japan but forgetting the magnitude of our words instead. You see they say actions are louder than words, but our words can make the difference between life and death.
You see, there's no justification for terrorism and all those innocent that bled But there's a reason for what we can do to prevent this again. You see we can fight one another and let the bad guys win or we can spread so much love till it prevails over all this sin.
Be kind & do good in the name of God.
