So far, she hadn’t been effected by the headaches during any training, so at least there was no lost time. She scoffs slightly and gives a small eye roll before looking at him hard in the eyes. Her minds already made up, she craves Russia ever since her mind was played with on James behalf but, she’s still second guessing every decision.

“I’ll make one thing very clear. If, and I’m not saying I am but  if, I decide to come and work with you again. I will not give up SHIELD intel and I will not ever put out a kill order on a small list of people.” Natasha says with a serious tone in her voice before correcting herself. “And you won’t either.”

Headcanon: The Gemini (Anastasia and Nikolai)

Hands down they are Lukin's favorites and what he considers the crowning glory of the Department's program. The children of the Winter Soldier and the Black Widow, he expects them to be nothing less than their parents. They were bred and trained to be the perfect spies, a tag team of assassins working perfectly in sync. And he will accept nothing less than that perfection.

But seriously. They are his favorites. His shiny shiny toys. If you think you are his favorite and you are not them, you are wrong.

[It should be noted that Lukin is well aware of Nikolai's over attachment to his sister and that it borders on psychosis. It should also be noted that Lukin encourages it. He wants the twins concentrated on each other and the program with no room for distractions.]

She would never admit but all she had wanted was to be in control of something. Being one of four SHIELD agents with a level 9 clearance was, well it was nice, but she wanted more. It wasn’t about greed, she could care less. And maybe it was part of her mind still being astray since Leo had messed with the delicate parts of her brain or maybe it was just some deep seated need to go back to Russia but she turns around, licking her lips softly and stares at him. Her hands moving up to block her mouth as she lights a cigarette, contemplating what Lukin’s just offered her. 

Her lips pucker around it as she blows out and looks at him in the eyes. “Why would I want to help you reshape a department that spent my entire life convincing me I was something I wasn’t?” she says rather bluntly, waiting to hear some “for the good of the country” bullshit fall from his mouth. 

Well of course for the good of the country. But she knew that. He didn't have to tell her that. And he wouldn't insult her by using it as his reasoning. "Because...while our methods were harsh, they were effective. Look at what they let you become. You are a work of art, Natalia. A treasure. And you are being wasted here. You know it as well as I do."
