Final Prototype of how the campaign would work ;
Evaluation for this term :
Overall throughout this term I am feeling a lot happier with the work i have produced. Beginning with the group project i feel as though our group worked really well together we made sure to use eachothers strengths throughout. The research in my mini FMP i found was more successful due to the fact i was a lot more interested that i have been in the past about previous projects. The concept of what i came up with I am really happy with aswell. There are definatley elements I can see could have been pushed and i feel as though the area lacking would be my final presentation of the concept and animation. I really wasnt sure how was the best way to display this and this is something i should look into ahead of time in the future. Id like to focus on how to anlysise my work more professionally in the future and also how to make my presentations more clear and put together.

ANNA MILLS
.https://www.itsnicethat.com/articles/anna-mills-graphic-design-171221
Looking at Anna Mills who is a artist that uses a rougher loooking style helped me to realise how to make it look more finished, she inspired me to use just blocked out sqaures behind the type so it doesnt neccessarily feel as though the type is actually coloured in.
I find her confidence in her own work really inspiring the way shes not affraid to put her experiments into the word although they dont all appear as what society sees as clean. Her work is fun inspiring and bubbly. The difference to me when you see someone add a human element is really the energy you get from looking at her work you can see she enjoys what she does and that to me means a successful designer. She uses motion to explore how letterforms can change and that is exactly what i aimed to do with this project too so this related to my work a lot . Anna talks about the “human” element to typography and how she just wants to “see them jump off the page” this really resonates with me and my love for type too. I feel as though in the future i may try out annas approach of doing complete hand drawn sketches on paper and then choose to animate them digiatally as this may give me the physical feel i look for through my typography.
Anna really goes against the “new” ways of typeography and has an alternate outlook sticking to what she loves and ive taken away a lot from her methods of production and continue to be inspired by her work.

I have previously seen websites that are seen more as artist websites over functioning full websites. I designed the webpage of this to be like that too. The main purpose is too see the display of animated type and connect with it and not to have a full functioning website. There is a simple learn more button which would lead to further information about the campaign and dogs boy language however the rest is really just prompting the user to engage.

This is the point where i began to draw the animation frame by frame until it reached a point where i was satisfied. I used a list of commands to help aid what the letter would do next throughout the drawings. Once I was happy I was ready to move forward, the issue i was facing is that even though i was happy with the style the animation did not look completed and made it look like the product wasnt finished.

When looking at ways to apply the colour I struggled to find a new way that would feel right. Blocking out the whole letter just made it look imature therefore I didnt like it. I tried to use diffrent brush types to see if adding texture would assist however i also did not like that. I used blue to show sadness, red for anger and orange as a neutral tone that shows excitement a little.
To solve the problem I looked at adding some colour to the line work as this would also be a good way of helping demonstrate emotion of the ‘u’ to the audience. This would make it more clear if the tail wagging was positive or negative. The idea of the animation is to demonstrate how the interactions would work so the colours
would be paired with certain movements of the letters and turn that way when the movements happen.

Finally the dog returns to a neurtal position body size the same as original with ears in a relaxed position relative to its “breed” . The tail is calmly wagging centrally showing a happy canine who is not over stimulated but just content.

The ‘u’ becomes narrow and shys aways really trying to condense its body even trying to tuck its ears away to its body. You may see your dog do this when they look guilty when you tell them off. This is just showing worry and fear and that its not trying to threaten you.

The shape begins to shake showing it is really in fear now, along side this the body shrinks as it attempts to show it is not a threat to whatever is scaring it. The body becomes thiner and smaller to blend
with its surroundings.

As the letter ‘u’ has no eyes i used the inside of the body to represent the eye, the eye becomes really wide as it begins to fear its surroundings and worry about what may come next. The colour blue shows worry and that the letter may try to escape the situation.

As the tail wagging is moved to the left this indicates a more negative wagging this tends to show a nervous or uneasy dog, as you say boo the
‘u’ becomes scared and tenses up. The body becomes larger and stiffer as it decides how to react to the threat. Theres also a clear sign viusally using flashes of red to show the dog is in panic and there may be too much energy in its sytem as it panics.

The dog proceeds to lay down when asked, shortening the height of the ‘u’ i felt really showed this as well as again removing the smoothed curve.
This command is showing basic dog training and how these things are important as to understanding why your dog is doing what its doing.

When asked to drop the ‘u’ stops chewing the ball and it falls out its mouth with the tail continuing to be excitable when it listens. The intention here is to demonstrate to
the user that dogs actually thrive a lot in training and often get excitable from listening and obeying their owners. A lack of training is not only going to cause issues for an owner but also for the dog asthere becomes a lack of mental stimulation.
