DISCUSSION DIRECTOR
1. What is Virgil’s advice to Dante as spoken at the gate of hell?
- As Dante enters the gate of hell, Virgil advise Dante to have behind any doubts or fears for he has about to see. If he is to learn from his journey, he must have faith and accept the suffering as divine justice. Virgil offer Dante his hand which Dante find assuring and the two pace through the gate and into hell.
2. Who are the souls tortured in this Canto?
- The souls that are lustful, non christian, the lustful strong wind, the glutton, force to lie in slush produced by icy rain, the greedy person who are extreme anger, violent criminals, the fraud summit false hood ad the treason or the traitors.
3. What is Charon’s reaction to Dante’s attempts to cross the universe?
- He is against with the decision of Dante crossing because the area beyond the rivers is only for the dead. Dante is alive so he shouldn’t be there, but after Virgil’s talked with Charon they were no longer troubled by him.
4. How does Virgil’s silence Charon?
- Virgil silence Charon after the latter told Dante to not allowed to be ferried.
5. What are the 9 circles of hell?
- The 9 circles of hell are the limbo, lust, gluttony, greed,anger, heresy,violence, fraud and treason.
LITERARY LUMINARY
As their sin was a darkness, so they move in darkness. As their own guilty conscience pursued them,so they are pursued by swarms of wasps and hornets. And as their actions were a moral, filth, so they run eternally through the filth of worms and maggots which they themselves feed. (Canto III)
I have chosen this passage from the story Canto III because I, myself can’t even imagine how that such thing happens. It was describe from the story the life inside of hell and it was really terrifying. According to this passage, the bigger the sin is, the bigger the punishment will be taken.you cannot do anything in hell instead they are the one who is doing anything just to make you suffer. The people who are there are tormented, punished, tortured, and are all in pain but they don’t have any choice but just feel all the sufferings. They are the people who are in the worst condition, understands the worst feeling because they, themselves can feel it.
From this, I can say that while we are living in this world, we should be good, humble, kind and praise God because he is the only one who can save us from the tormenting hell. He is the only one who is powerful and almighty who can do that thus, we people should love and praise him.

Movie:
I can relate the story from the movie I have watched Entitled “ Green Inferno” because the story itself talks about life of an individual who are being kidnapped and imprisoned by a group of people who eats them alive and kills them unjustly. In the story Canto III souls who are in hell are being tormented and punished severely, likely similar to the movie Green Inferno.
Personal life:
There are times in my life that I am doing wrong things and bad things as well, so sometimes I can think of myself inside of hell. But I don’t want to go to hell even though I have made so many bad things and mistakes because no one would choose hell over heaven. I think God, did not want us to go in a wrong way because he love us very much that he could die just to save us. So we need to have faith in him because only your faith can save you not your good deeds, not your kindness, not your generosity only your faith in God can save you!
