Marellinh Story (Part 4)

Marella

Marella's heart beat faster. Her face felt hot. It almost felt like.. Linh knew. But how could Linh know? Unless... Linh liked her too! Elwin noticed their expressions and sneered, which was very unlike him.

"Look at this perfect moment." He said in a low and menacing voice, "Too bad I have to destroy it!" Who Marella had thought was Elwin snapped his fingers and the disguise melted away. Beneath was none other than Alvar Vacker, the evil brother of Fitz and Biana!

"Come with me," he said. "NEVER!" Yelled Linh, with suprising volume. Alvar smiled creepily. "Fine." he said, "Have it your way."

He vanished, then Marella watched in horror as Linh stiffened, then dropped to the floor, convulsing. Alvar reappeared, smirking.

"Now will you cooperate?" He asked Marella. Marella nodded, defeated by the sight of Linh shaking on the floor. "Good." Alvar said.

He held a crystal the same colour as Linh's eyes up to the light. Marella had never seen a that colour of crystal before. But she had no time to muse, because Alvar grabbed her wrist and Linh's. Then he stepped into the light.

Marellinh Story (Part 3)

Linh

Linh opened her eyes blearily. She had no idea where she was, or how she got there. Then she remembered. She had nearly faded!

She sat up, her hair flying messily across her face. Bullhorn sqeaked as he tumbled off her bed onto the floor. What had Bullhorn been doing on her bed?

Then she realised that she was in the Healing Centre. She stared as she took in Marella, sitting at the far side of the room, her head in her arms. Linh's heart fluttered at the sight of her there. Why weren't any of their other friends? Did that mean, possibly, that Marella liked her more?

Elwin stode in, breaking her thoughts. His face was set and there was purple under his eyes. He saw hear sitting up and his face broke into a smile of joy and relief. He laughed in shock, and rushed over to hug her.

Marella jolted her head up and spun around. Her hair was messy, with her braids untwisting and her fringe pushed untidily away from her face. Her eyes were red and puffy from crying. But her smile lit up the room.

Marella put her arms around Linh, squeezing until Linh thought she would burst.

"We were so worried." Marella said. "You were out for three days. Elwin didn't leave the Healing Centre. I had to for class. But the rest of time, I was here. Hoping you would wake up."

For a moment, their eyes met. A look passed between them, a look of understanding. Linh knew that her life would never be the same.

Marellihn Story (Part 2)

Marella

Marella dragged herself into the cafeteria after a gruelling elementalism session. She sat at her friends' usual table, the one in the corner with the window, where they could talk without being overheard.

She sat down next to Stina who was worriedly gossiping to Maruca about something. Trying not to seem nosy, Marella asked,

"What are you guys talking about?" Stina whipped around and stared at Marella with an annoyed expession. Clearly Marella had failed in her intent. Stina sighed crossed her arms, and rolled her eyes for good measure.

"Haven't you heard? Linh faded!" Stina told Marella. Tears of shock pricked Marella's eyes. She kicked herself, then asked why. She would care just as much for Marella as she did the rest of her friends, didn't she? Didn't she?

She stood up, determined not to let her friends see her tears. Marella ran to the Healing Centre, where she was sure Linh would be. Sure enough Linh was laying on one of the white beds, deathly pale, Bullhorn on her chest. That could only mean one thing.

Linh was close to dying.

Marellinh Story (Part 1)

Linh

Linh checked her scarlet level four uniform in the mirror and sighed. How Marella always managed to look perfect, she didn't know.

Marella. A name that sent both waves of cool calm and scratchy heat through her brain. A name that made Linh smile, but made her insides crawl.

Marella. So pretty and feisty and perfect, with her ice blue eyes and tiny gold braids through her hair. Even her crinkled uniform somehow made her more beautiful.

Marella was still in Linh's mind as she climbed Solreef's stairs to the leapmaster. She barely concentrated as she let the light whisk her away.

When she arrived at Foxfire, she felt strange. Sort of pale and sick. She stared down at her hands. They seened blurry at the fingertips. Then she knew. Fear coursed through her veins.

Linh was fading.

Why Fitzphie failed!!

In book 1, Fitz says that Sophie is like a sister to him. In Flashback, they start dating. A massive change! My guess is this: Sophie is the only inflictor able to inflict positive emotions. It's possible that whenever their minds were connected, Sophie sent out subtle waves of emotion, leading to the event in Flashback.
