I am well over the age of needing to explain myself. (Josef Kostan is nearly 500 years old vampire. In his public life he is Billionaire hedge fund trader who doesn't take shit. In private he is one of the oldest and most powerful vampires in Los Angeles....

Do vampires get headaches, because Mick looks like he’s got one. I love Mick’s fireplace, even though fire is one of the few things that can kill a vampire. I love my troubled vampire babe.

"I've been thinking about you."
"Why are you being so weird about this?"
"How's your head?"
"Did you see that?"
"You're not going to go through this alone."
"And what is your excuse for not telling me this until now?"
"You already know who we're looking for, don't you?"
"I'm fine. I have to be."
"Your dad hates me, doesn't he?"
"No, we are not discussing this!"
"You look peculiar. What's wrong?"
"I don't think this is going to work..."
"You know, I think I quite like your mother. "
"I fear that I am becoming obsolete."
"You're an idiot."
"I'm proud of you."
"Why haven't you answered my calls?"
"On second thought, I don't think I want to know."

"Oh, so this is all about you?"
"You deserve more."
"I know why you hate me."
"You're not doing anyone any good in this condition."
"Have you ever actually been in a fight?"
"Yeah? Well, if you're in such great shape, why did you come to this hospital?"
"If you think this is bad, you should see the other guy."
"You won't regret this, I promise."
"I've known you long enough to be able to tell when you're lying."
"You're not going to recover unless you get some sleep!"
"But... That's illegal?"
"I can't help you if you won't let me."
"Please, take care of yourself."
"I know you're happy with him, but would you be happier without him?"
"Why are you still here?"
"Getting away with murder is an incredible feeling."
"We need each other."
"I was told that you weren't afraid of anything. Is that wrong?"
"You've done a lot of research on this, haven't you?"

She gave a small, derisive snort. ❝Oh, trust me, if I was here to kill you, you’d know. And I wouldn’t be nearly so nice.❞ There was a smirk on her lips, and one could see the danger lurking beneath. If it wasn’t for the note of teasing in her voice, she might seem entirely serious. ❝But rest assured, if I ever decide that you’re worth the effort, you’ll only get my best effort.❞
❝You know, contrary to popular belief, I am capable of being on my best behavior around Mick. Not that I’ve even been around him lately.❞
His head angles to the side as he gave a fairly animated shrug like nod, silent acceptance that he knows she’s right about the matter. We’re she here to kill him he would have had more than enough indication. “Fair enough.” He’s known her for countless years but even still that smirk is still taken as a warning, the monstrous side of her ever so obvious. “Aww I’m touched, truly.” And just like that his sarcasm returns.
“Sure you are, I mean history would … oh waitttt history says otherwise.” He looked at her, ‘Then to what do I owe this…… pleasure?”

Coraline’s particularly heavy sigh was accompanied by a matching eye roll. ❝Famous last words,❞ she replied. ❝So to speak. Well, most of the time.❞ Well, at least she could say she’d made an attempt (however feeble it was). ❝What are you up to anyway?❞
His laughter is somehow bearing of his smugness, it’s deep and purposeful as he looked at her, “Oh is that why you came around then, kill me off?” There’s a taunting almost daring nature to his tone as he smiles a wicked smile at her. “Gotta work on that.” He leaned back against his desk and sat on top of the edge. “Reconnecting, had some time.. away. Why? Need me to play referee between you and Micky boy again?”

There were still certain things she was getting used to, since as seeing the dead body every now and then. "What is it that they did?"she gave him a small laugh. Just being involved with anything having to do with vampires amused her. "I won’t tell Mick,"she offered assuring.
Josef stepped over the body as if it wasn’t in his walking path and moved over to his desk to lean against it. It’s eery just how casual he is about the whole thing, “Annoyed me.” He shrugged, it’s an incredibly oversimplification of what the deceased had done but it’s far too on par for him. “I don’t report to Mick, Beth, tell him, don’t tell him, either way I’m sure I’ll listen to some moral high ground lecture .” He teased.
@kostan
"Is that a body?"she asked him completely unfazed by the whole thing.

Mick: Josef...
Josef: I can tell by the tone of your voice that you are disappointed. Alas, I must further disappoint you by affirming how little I give a fuck.

Josef lazily glanced over at the form on the floor that clearly no longer holds the capacity for movement. “Wow, you have eyes.” His teasing of course but the sarcasm is dripping from his very tone, “Yes, Beth it’s a body.”

“Mmm.” He hums, a deep, almost predatory hum when her mouth snaps closed just as quickly as the words had left his mouth, he didn’t even have to put much power into them, he’d said it so quickly and in turn she’d responded equally so. His head tilts to the side, his eyes dark and as he looks down her body and settles further back into his arm chair. For a moment he lets that air between them hang before he motions come here with his finger, “Something fare more useful than complaining.”
❛ let’s do something about that mouth of yours. ❜
@kostan
It shuts her up right quick, shocked at how fast his comebacks can be. Anthea is definitely feeling the effects of having been left by him, the strongest one being that she's missed his quirky responses that come almost too natural for him. She sinks her teeth into her bottom lip for a brief second, before shooting back her own comment.
"Like what, hm?"

“Oh are you?” she’s amused and annoyed that he won’t hand over the necklace just yet. Her voice is a light tease-she’s not sure she will entirely forgive him for absconding on her again, but this will soften the blow significantly.
“You will have to win me over again,” she continues, turning her back to him to rummage through the drawers of her kitchen, “You have your work cut out for you because I know all your tricks. And all the places you hide.”
His brow ticks upward at the question, it’s expected of course, the remarks that almost goad him into a reaction given that he’d been gone for far too long at this point. “Mmm.” He opts for little more than a hum in response to the teasing. The necklace remains lightly wrapped in his fingers as if teasing her himself.
“I know.” There’s no playfulness to his tone in the simple response, instead there’s an genuine nature to it that is rare enough that it shows he’s serious, he knows this isn’t a walk back in without work sort of situation. But she turns and rummages through a drawer, his head tilting to the side as he watches her from behind. “I know, Anthea.”
He said her name with that teasing and almost intoxicated like tone he usually did. And though he wants to touch on the places you hide comment, given he’d disappeared for a year without her finding him he opts to leave that one alone.

He doesn’t like the idea of them not together, and if she’s honest, she doesn’t like it either. But it does feel nice to have him squirm, if only for one fleeting moment before he’s stepping closer, necklace fished from his pocket.
It does get her attention, and she closes the space between them to inspect the diamond-it’s flawless of course, she expects nothing less from him. It’s even her favorite colors-proof he wasn’t just carrying around a few million in diamonds for any old girl. Anthea eyes it for a minute, before looking up at him.
“If you had texted me,” she starts, looking at his smug glance, “I would have come to you. I’m beginning to think you like this game of cat and mouse. Though I cant say you’re a very good mouse, coming straight back to me like this.”
It’s true, the idea of them not being an item bugs him, despite all they’ve been through in the past, despite the arguments in which he’d said things he shouldn’t have, he’s always been drawn to Anthea, wants Anthea, hell needs her, even if he won’t always admit it aloud. Squirm he did, he knew he couldn’t come home after such a time without something in his pocket, something more than a shit apology.
His eyes watch her every movement as she closes the space between her, the diamonds glittering against the light of the room, they were picked for her and her alone, the necklace itself designed for her, one of a kind, just like his girl.
He tilted his head in a half nod, he knows it would have been that simple, she’d follow him and he knew that but he’d wanted to give that option for an out, yet he couldn’t just tear himself away, each day seemed longer than the next and everyday he thought of her. “Well it’s a good thing I’m a higher predator than a mouse then.” But she had him there, he’d very literally crawl to her.
