Everything that kills me makes me feel alive
And
One day you’ll leave this world behind and live a life you will remember, my father told me when i was just a child these are the nights that never diee
Are some lines of songs that keep my adventurous spirit going

This year, the sound of the fireworks is dimmer.
There are fewer children in your apartment complex. You all have grown up— half of your friend group is scattered all over the country, all of you grinding yourself into dust in the name of getting a degree, not all of you able to return home for your dearest festival. This year, there are fewer fireworks in the sky. There is less laughter echoing through the buildings, fewer oil lamps lining the corridors, less things to do than there were last year.
You are careful when you bend down to light the diwa in your doorway, trying not to spill the oil on your expensive outfit— this year, you did not ask for much. You're older now, you know the struggles of being an adult, of managing money, of working till your vision is swimming with exhaustion. You only bought one outfit, and one pair of shoes. You'll make do with it for the entire year, you tell yourself, and smile as the little flame of the diwa rises higher, burning bright like you hope your future will be.
Inside the house, your younger siblings are squabbling over who gets to roll the besanache laadoo into proper shape. You sigh, walk back in, and firmly separate the dough into two equal parts, silently eyeing the younger two with a judgemental gaze. Your brother hides a laugh behind his hand, and you grin back. Quick as a flash, you pop a bit of dough into your mouth. Your sister and brother both burst into giggles, and you wink, holding a finger up to your lips. The besan-saakhar-tup mixture melts on your tongue in a wave of divine sweetness, and you slip another morsel into your mouth just in time for your Aai to walk in. She yells, and you cackle as you run away.
You bicker with Ajji over the chakli batter. You think it should be spicier, and your grandmother is ready to smack you with her spatula for daring to insinuate that her recipe is not perfect just the way it is. Two hours later, you chew enthusiastically on a chakli and decide that yeah, Ajji was right. Unsurprisingly.
Determined to not let the absence of your friends sadden you, you drag your siblings and cousins out to the front yard to burst phatakde, and before long, everyone gets into the flow. Strangers are joining in with their own fireworks, and laughter spills from your mouth as you run away from the glass bottle you idiots stuffed with five atom bombs. The ensuing BOOM rattles the bars on the windows.
This year Diwali is different, but it's still the same. Your friends aren't here, but you call each other with well wishes, you study for your college exams, and you sneak faral when your mother isn't looking. You help with the house cleaning and you visit the mandir and you burst fireworks, and it's not all that different.
It's the same, really.
.

Lost in the world of being selfish and not content. aspiring to become the nicest person who is slow, kind, calm, understanding, content. some of my friends are like this but I could never be, I’m too competitive. My ppl are too career oriented, but i can never be happy with this. I need a calm life. But where is the money going to come for survival?

"I cherish the art of solitude, when a girl can revel in the serenity of free time, alone to immerse herself in books, connect with nature, or simply sit by the windowsill, basking in the beauty of living in the moment, with only her thoughts for company, and finding peace in the stillness."

When they ask;
"what do you want from life??"
And Jaun Eliya replied;
“mere hisse mein tu reh bas, baqi duniya logon ko mubarak.”
