I was worried she had stress stripes but honestly I think she is just. like that. it’s been such a long time since I had female bettas and I’m so happy to have found Newt! she is so lively and happy-go-lucky.

VA Native Fish Hunting - 7
So there’s no Read More today because it was a horribly uneventful week. We were getting the end of the tropical storm and so I took the easy route out and set up some minnow traps. I put three in different bodies of water and came back the next morning when the rain stopped. And you know what I got?
Nothing. No fish at all in any of the traps. Frown! But I went to the bog where I recently found Fliers and did some blind dip netting. Hey, worked before, right? 6 or 7 dips with nothing to show but aquatic insects (still neat, but not what I’m looking for) and then…
I got this Bluespotted Sunfish (Enneacanthus gloriosus)! A species I’ve been on the hunt for for a while. Unlike their related Lepomis sunfishes - the Bluegills, Pumpkinseeds, Greens, etc - you are probably more familiar with, these guys stay small, maxing out at 3.5 inches, and are peaceful to the point of being timid. A gorgeous, lucky find!

The silver satin pothos in Ifrit's tank had two gorgeous trailing vines, so I bought some hooks and am now slowly training it to go upwards! I'm hoping to have it slowly vine around a framed poster I recently bought for the library (that I still need to frame and hang up!), and I'm thinking it's gonna look really pretty!
