So I have this weird stitch on one of my sewing machines and I could not figure out when on earth I would ever use it. Of when ANYONE would ever use it.
Like what the fuck is that?
But then I remembered a long sleeve shirt that needed mending because my DEMENTED ASS CAT ate MOST of the cuff off.
(Also the cat is fine. And yes, we've talked to our vet AND a cat behaviorist about it and implemented literally all of their suggestions and more. No it has not stopped him. We try to keep shit away from his little goblin teeth but he's good at opening things because he's secretly a racoon a cat's body. Also no, I do not know how he's still alive. Especially considering he's been doing this shit for almost 10 years. Guess he's just built different.)
ANYWAY why on earth would I use this stitch on this shirt? Because it's the perfect death metal stitch??
why is it so perfect
Also for those thinking I'm just doing the length or some setting wrong, here's what the stitch selector looks like. It is in fact supposed to look like that:

We have this old purple fleece or felt (I have no clue what this thing is made of but I guarantee every middle class household in the 90s had one) blanket that we inherited from my mother in law when we moved into her house. It had some holes but it was still mostly together and it held no sentimental value so it was perfect for me to practice on.
I started doing a weaving type mend with some yarn I had laying around. This green yarn (Lion brand homespun) came in a lot I bought and the previous owner had cut it into short lengths (like 36”) for a project but had never finished. So it really wasn’t good for crochet but it was perfect to use for weaving.
I started with the green and then I was liking the earthy feel with the purple background so I just kept going with some crazy Pom Pom yarn I had a tiny bit of.
And that was looking like moss or fungi so I threw in some yellow.
Then threw in some brown to bring back the earthy feel.
I just kept going in different directions with different yarns until I had filled the hole. And I am so pleased with the result.
I adore the texture this Pom Pom yarn made. Sadly I don’t have any more and I can’t find it online to save my life.
On to another hole. Went for brown base threads (warp threads???) instead of the string I had been using. I have to get more pictures of how this one is turning out because I’m almost positive I’ve finished this hole but I put the blanket away for some reason.
These are some pictures of moss? lichen?? On a tree for inspo because this is what the weaving reminded me of.

Brown Tabby Cat on merino/pima cotton sock yarn. I love the way this base takes the colour, it’s so good at mimicking the appearance of fur. I’ve also re-stocked Calico Cat on aran.
I had the idea that I might add one new cat colourway to this series every so often to create a more sustainable level of both production and shopping. I’m also slowly adding more DK.

Today I am starting ball 3 of 6! Yay! After this ball I think I'll add a rainbow stripe same yarn I don't have much left of it so I figured it would just give a little extra width a d then I can do the last 3 of my other Christmas colors which will be white, red, green and grey!

I really need a knitting journal for my projects 😂 I just counted my stitches! Each row has 565 stitches, I'm currently about to start knitting row 90! Also as I held it up to get an idea of real length.
I've realized I was knitting it sideways and that was always my plan which I forgot so I probably don't actually need more yarn which is great news for me since I couldn't afford more anyway right now. Since the bottom is the side and not actually the bottom! 🤣
P.S please don't mind the work floor I have to mop soon! 😝

Progress is going well! It's doing a fun half and half with the second ball hopefully I can continue that with the rest!
In my opinion it looks nicer than the 3/4 rotation I had going with the first ball! Either way I'll be happy with the outcome!
