imagine moving to a town and the mayor is an extremely well-liked by basically everybody (to the point people are talking about wanting to re-elect him even though he hasn't served for a full year let alone a full term) and you're like "yeah cool okay" but there's also a gigantic skyscraper downtown (oddly shaped and colored, can't miss it in the skyline) that has his last name on it followed by the words "evil, inc." and at first you're like "alright is this some form of political protest then?" but upon looking at it it's clearly a professionally done sign bolted onto the building and it looks like it's been there a while so it's not like it was put up recently by guerilla artists. nobody's mentioned it or moved to take it down so it seems like it's probably there legally. the mayor's last name is super uncommon too so the odds of it being something unrelated to him at all are miniscule. you just kind of shrug it off as an art piece that's trying to make a political statement until one day you randomly find out that it's where the mayor's mad scientist older brother lives. honestly idk how i would even react to that information

I was looking for references and stumbled across a series of paintings from 1930s by Soviet painter Alexander Samokhvalov called "The young women of metro construction"

I don't care about Dungeon Meshi otherwise but "Tallmen" is SUCH an elegant solution to placing humans in a fantasy setting that it's still blowing my mind. Just the term itself is enough to instantly recontextualize humans. They're no longer the default race. They're those big goobers with long legs, striding about all the time. I can so easily envision much more interesting relationships between humans and non-humans because of it. Like perhaps "tallmen" are stereotyped as shepherds by other races because they can watch over their flocks better, or as vagabonds because they are better suited to long travel on foot. And of course, they don't *literally* have to be taller than everybody else, they were just the tallest around whenever the label became the norm, or something like that. I just feel like it's so much better than what I've seen in settings like D&D that go "and humans are the... adaptable, generalist people :)!"

AITA for giving my housemate gender dysphoria?
I (32F) recently got a gig as a live in housekeeper for a haunted mansion. I'm like 85% sure the job posting was a scam to try and feed me to the house in order to stave off its eternal hunger for another decade or so. But it pays alright and I don't have to pay rent as long as I'm living here.
One of the ghosts (~250M(?)) possessed my body a few nights ago, but instead of, I don't know, making me climb onto a blaustrade or something, he got real quiet. I don't think he ever possessed a trans woman before and he just kinda spent the whole night staring at my hrt pill bottles.
Since then, he's still been wandering the halls at the stroke of midnight, shattering all the mirrors that mysteriously regenerate by morning, but it seems like his heart hasn't been in it.
(Are the mirrors symbolic of something???)
He (she?) is definitely going through some shit. I don't *think* I did anything wrong, considering he was the one who possessed me, but I still feel really bad about it.
