Lots of posts about how Louis doesn’t want what happened to him to happen to other artists so he’s going to take care of them...

...but who’s looking out for him?

His label situation has been unknown for over seven months—months of nothing but press about his personal life, and a record breaking livestream for which he got no promo save a Telegraph interview [that described him as the one in 1D who spent more time perusing contracts than singing!] and no real press afterwards—yet the first announcement is about an idea, an intention to one day start his own management company.

Whatever that may mean for him in the future, personally it’s hard for me to celebrate the hypothetical chance of him helping other artists some day when he still needs help right now for himself and his music career.

And all I can think is how it seemed that for once, despite the perpetual division in the fandom, there was focus on Louis and his developing music career—all that was on anyone’s mind was new merch and LT2 and tour. Now that focus has shifted, and the old time, enduring idea that his true, ultimate goal is working behind the scenes and helping other artists with their careers gains foothold once more. [4K likes on a tweet calling him a manager!] As though he isn’t in a position where he still needs help for his own career.

Additionally, ‘it won’t affect my music or release plans’ is exactly what he said before when he had to do XF—which was also presented as his idea and a long time dream of his own—and it most certainly did. It set him back years. This may absolutely be different, but claiming it must be so because this feels different seems like little more than hindsight bias. “Trust Louis, be supportive and positive!” was the exact same reaction back then too. “He knows what he’s doing [as though he has total power and everything is under his control…], everything is going to be fine!” is what people have been parroting for years, and here we are: “nothing to promote” after two weeks of minimal promo for the release of his delayed debut album, more press about Freddie than a record breaking livestream, and a team that didn’t even acknowledge an impactful fan project to promote his music.

Whenever, if this ever comes to fruition, may it be good for Louis, but excuse me for not finding it cause for celebration at this point in time.

I just… want Louis and his music career to be the sole priority for once. If he’s too good for his own good, then I wish someone would put him first, and be selfish on his behalf, because sometimes it’s the people around them who need to make sure the givers get their share too.

latam louies are... wow. no words. they work so hard, and accomplish so many things, they are literally such a force! it's really incredible, and the amount of latam louies is also insane, it's probably the biggest part of the fandom.

"but I'm glad he hasn't let all the bs turn him into a bitter person" i think about that so much... one of the things i love the most about him is that if you look at his life from our point of view it just seems - impossible, to keep going. the amount of pressure, of grief, of shitty people surrounding him since he was so young - he could be SO bitter and angry at the world and IT WOULD MAKE SENSE!! but he just chooses, everyday, to be positive, to be better and to be KIND. i love him for that. he managed to keep it real and still be absolutely fucking lovely. hope he's happy forever, he deserves nothing but that.

I don't think your "wait and see" gives 2017/2018 vibes hehehehe. To be honest everything points to a different direction. The thing is that some people might think it will be fast or easy to overcome everything we have all these years when it's not. Everything is looking really different and positive than in those years, come on we all know they were hell, but it is a difficult and hardworking way we are all taking, no one said it was gonna be easy but we have come to an stage we never thought we would be in like two years ago, so just keep waiting, keep fighting and most importantly just keep believing in Louis, we've come a long way and we still will!

By all rules of logic, industry power hierarchies, and sabotage, Louis should have disappeared by now, relegated to the history books as a “bandmates of.”

He, and we, persisted.

He made it. He’s making it from the ground up. All of Louis’ victories are hard won. He knows what it’s like to lose, and there’s nothing else for him to lose.
