The only “ppl say I’m not really black” discussions that matter anymore are 1) Black ppl being invalidated when we express ourselves & our interests in “weird” things and 2) non-Black ppl distancing us from our Blackness to make us more “acceptable”, to justify associating with us. Neither of these things are specific to mixed Black people just 2 be clear.

We’re grown and it’s nearly 2019 and we won’t dedicate anymore time energy or emotions to “monoracial Black people don’t accept me bc I’m mixed”!! We will think critically about the social climate that produces that mindset and process these experiences through empathy only, no resentment!!

Ok I know you feel so horrible about him leaving but most likely he will keep im touch with you if he cares about you the way you care about him. Heck depending on how far he is, you guys can probably visit each other too. I just want to let you know that him leaving isn't automatically the end for you and Reese.
