We’re so excited to share our contribution to the Gwynriel holidays! When we commissioned this festive piece by the lovely @jennastokesart we were imagining Gwyn and Azriel taking a private moment for themselves down a quiet side street after a night of caroling together through the streets of Velaris. Gwyn then sees a mistletoe and can’t pass up the opportunity to give the shadowsinger a kiss. Azriel, of course, is happy to oblige.

Thank you so much @jennastokesart for bringing this cozy scene to life! We’re in love with how you portrayed Gwyn and Azriel within the beautiful backdrop of Velaris during the holiday season!

@azrielappreciationweek Day Five — No Need For Poetry

“A thing of secret, lovely beauty.”

— ACOSF, Azriel Bonus Chapter

While there is certainly no need for poetry, it exists nonetheless between these two. There is something so utterly poetic about two individuals seemingly lost within the darkness, yet accepting what it is that they see and remaining resilient despite it all.

For this piece, @norabraveseeker and I wanted to showcase the dynamic between Gwyn and Azriel. We are so taken by the potential that their story has and the narratives and plot arcs attached to both of them. Equals. Yin and Yang. Wind and Water. Light and Shadow. Holy and Blessed. Warriors. Carynthian. Survivors. The Shadowsinger and the Priestess. The Illyrian and the Valkyrie.

if there’s one thing the bat boys have in common, it’s being willing to get on their knees for their women. and what’s better than azriel willing to beg on his knees for his woman? worshipping at her altar for a taste of the 𝓭𝓲𝓿𝓲𝓷𝓮.

and let’s be honest; there is no need for poetry when the way azriel thinks about elain is poetry in itself.

SO excited so show y’all this one the girls and i have been cooking up! inspired by what is, in my humble opinion, one of the hottest lines SJM has written to date, this art takes elements from the greek mythologies eros+psyche and hades+persephone (bonus points if you can catch all the references!)

shout out once again to our QUEEN, @celestarly . i swear every piece she makes blows me away all over again. i know we put you through the ringer with this one but the end result is jaw-dropping- this might be my favorite az ever, i haven’t stopped ogling it since you sent it over and we are SO SO GRATEFUL! 🫶💜

@nessianweek | Day Three: Symphony

Music is a particularly important element for Nesta and Cassian, but especially for Nesta. In one of my favorite passages from Acosf, she thinks about the music she has in her own heart, made from Cassian’s voice, Gwyn’s and Emerie’s laughter, her own breath. So, I like to imagine that her favorite music is one of these (not so) small reminders of life happening around her, and that’s why Nesta and Cassian constantly dance together, but in the silence and closeness that allows them to hear their own heartbeats and feel their own breathing as a guarantee that they are well, alive, and together, is their favorite music.

Once again, I was able to work with my dear Pablo, who made this incredible illustration of Nesta and Cassian flying and dancing, in a reference that I cannot fail to mention, to Lois and Clark, one of my favorite fictional couples.
