Corey and I closed on our first house yesterday! We bought the land / lot in March, started the building process back in April, and finished everything up in October. We just wanted to give a couple of shoutouts to our amazing "support system" of friends and family during this endeavor. Especially: our parents, for always being there for us with advice and sharing in our excitement; our realtor, Pam Schaffer, for going above and beyond the call of duty to help us get through buying / building of our first house, while teaching, guiding, protecting us and more; and our wonderful team from @davidweekleyhomes, our sales consultant, Neville Crowell, our builder, Randy Cleveland, and our design consultant, Donna Bursell, who have all been such a joy to work with, making everything go so smoothly, and producing such a BEAUTIFUL home for us! My little Lola Rose... 🐶🌹 I still cannot believe you're gone. My eyes well up and I get a lump in my throat when I think about you. My voice quivers when I talk about you. Looking at videos and pictures of you helps, but it also hurts. I will miss your personality and the way you could always make me smile or laugh no matter what. I will miss snuggling and loving on you, and that you would nudge or whack me if I stopped. I know you're in a better place, but I still selfishly wish you were here with me instead. I feel a little silly posting stuff about you, but I can't help the fact that proclaiming my love and longing for you is cathartic in a way. You had a great life, but 7.5 years wasn't long enough... I wish we had more time with you, but we were blessed to have the time that we did. You were like our 7-year-old little sister, and I think that's what makes losing you so hard. Even though you were "just a dog" as they say, you were more than that to us--you were family. After being diagnosed with Lymphoma in May of this year, she has been a real fighter—but she has always been a tough, little nugget! Today would have been her 16th and final dose of chemo. We do not know exactly what happened, but the doctor suspects, from all the symptoms, that she passed from bloat. We noticed she was having difficulty breathing, frothing from the mouth, and dry heaving a lot. We decided to take her to the emergency vet hospital and we had to carry her because she could not walk. We lost her within about 45 minutes of noticing something was wrong. We will miss our sassy girl so much! Our hearts are broken into a million pieces. We cannot stop crying / tearing up. We called and told her 3 human siblings today because they are away at college or out of college on their own. Her doggy siblings Tillman and Gunnar are going to be lost without her. She was our “alpha female” and she kept her brothers in line. Lola, you will always be in our hearts. We will see you again someday. It will take time to heal, but we find some peace knowing that you are in a better place and no longer suffering. You touched so many with you loving nature and sassy personality. As our first Bulldog, you got us all hooked and we will never be the same. We will love you forever. RIP sweet, chubby girl!
