Take a stand

So, for my entire Tumblr journey, I have been quiet, following creators without creating any posts of my own.

This could be my own only post but I feel it is important.

Tumblr has decided for us what we can and cannot view, having removed several NSFW blogs, despite in the past, and still showing on their support page that it is apparently live and let live environment.

I recognise that this is an attempt to to genuinely bad porn from flooding the site, such as actual child porn.

However, they have shown a clear disregard for artists because of this, some with very large followings. I have a right, as a legal adult, soon turning 30, to view what I want to view, not what is filtered down to me and deemed appropriate. That is a kind on censorship.

I have raised my compliant via a support email but have realised now it would be better to try and take this to the beast itself.

I would encourage everyone to head to @staff and raise your voice, take a stand for your right for what you want to view and to stand for the artists who have been purged.

Tumblr is not our parents and it should not have the right to become Big Brother.

WOOOOOW THE NEW EPISODE IS GREAT

The last episode included in the pride month pack and the last Kiribaku moment in this season... I guess

I just need to talk about this particular scene

This scene is the ultimate for me. It is as special as the hand holding scene.

This is going to be a very short analysis because Horikoshi left the Bakushima in this scene pretty much obvious tbh.

I love that Bakugo is so concerned. Knowing him, he would normally be like "Eh, I didn't ask for help anyways so fuck off"

But with Kirishima he straight up says he felt guilty. And pays him up with his own money.

For me, this scene with any other character wouldn't amuse me. This is a generous action and it's beautiful coming from any other person.

The thing is... It is Bakugo.

Bakugo wouldn't do that. To anyone. Personally, when I read the manga for the first time, this scene left me in shock. I didn't believe in what I was reading and I even thought the translation was wrong.

It's so obvious that Bakuboy is a Tsundere.

And Kirishima's reaction is...

He is grateful. And he is really glad that Bakugo, a manly person to him, is turning out to be a good person. He believes in him.

The hand holding scene, and why it is important.

This scene is so UUUUGH

I think every single BNHA fan noticed the fact that many Kiribaku shippers flip over this scene (I literally died for two seconds when I saw the animated version). But sometimes, I ask myself why do I feel so emotional while watching this part.

And to be honest, it's pretty reasonable.

This moment is not only important to shippers, but it is crucial for the anime.

In this analysis, I'm going to show you how the animated version shows the importance of this Kiribaku interaction.

It is essencial to begin this meta mentioning the use of Yutaka Nakamura for this episode. He is a very talented animator and fuuucck his animations make me scream. An example of his work was the Tododeku battle present in the festival arc.

However, instead of using him in any actual battle moments, Yutaka animates the one and only hand holding scene. It is pretty noticeable when you watch Bakugou's flying animation. So. Fluid.

Let's analyse the actual animation now, shall we?

(Legit starts talking about the animation with a still image. Me smh)

KIRISHIMA IS SO SHOOK. Him being called "the key to success" in this context caught Eijirou by surprise. And the anime gave that away. But why am I showing you this?

Well, because it was Midoriya who told him he was the key, and that is important enough. Let me explain, Izuku is a really observant person. He can tell anyone's personality just by looking at them interact with other people. We've been shown this since the very start of bnha.

Think about Kirishima's reaction for a moment. He doesn't know how important he is to Bakugou. And for a childhood "friend" of his to tell him that... He was shocked, to say the least.

After that, Midoriya explain to us why the key is Kirishima. (Pay attention to the fact this is a person who has known Bakugou for a long time now talking.) We get tons of flashbacks involving Kiribaku interactions.

Those are minor moments between the two. Yet, they were sufficient for Izuku to acknowledge what Eijirou is to Kacchan. Equal.

That word is really important when talking about relationships. Equality is wanted by many people (Feminism, Race and religion tolerance are some examples of movements that require social equality). It brings you and your partner justice and a stronger connection. It is not a good relationship when your partner treats you like a god, or makes you feel inferior.

Look at Bakugou, he is the type of person who would rather die than to be saved by someone else. Even Uraraka figured that out. He hates being victimized or feeling inferior to someone. When he sees someone is weaker than him, he takes the opportunity to oppress that person so he can feel superior. Deku himself is an example.

On the other hand, Katsuki recognizes that he isn't in fact the best during the Villain x Hero exam. He almost starts crying while he watches everyone else battling and acting better than him. When Izuku decided to talk to him... He cries.

Then he goes home alone, frustrated by the fact that he lost to someone he would call useless.

For Bakugou, there are either people who are better or worse than him.

Except for Kirishima...

Kirishima is considered someone who is as good as him. Though Bakugo won't admit it, he knows that. He even contradicts Eijirou when he says he "is not as good as the other students" and encourages him. But that's for another analysis I will be doing soon.

Moving on, Deku says this:

"If you, his friend , reach out to him... Than I'm sure."

The way he uses the pronoun "his" makes it sound like he even excludes himself, a man who knew Kacchan since childhood, from being part of what he considers "friends".

That sentence is also relevant to what I already said. Bakugou would rather die than to be saved by someone else.

But Deku is CERTAIN that if Eijirou were to save Bakugone, than he would accept.

BUT HOW? WHAT IS THIS WITCHCRAFT!?

I actually don't know why... But Bakugo accepts him as an equal and a friend. And look:

He doesn't even hesitate.

HE DOESN'T EVEN--

Now we go to my favorite part in this whole animation scene.

Splendid. Simply delicious.

There are so many details. Let's put them into 3 of Bakugou's actions.

Bakugou's eyes shine

Generally, when a character eyes shine, it means they are feeling strong emotions. So, when I look at Katsuki's eyes there, for me it seems like he is happy that he is finally getting out of there, and even grateful that Kirishima was there.

2. Bakugou genuinely smiles

It's like he is being sincere there, he seems glad and he seems confortable. Just like the eyes, his smile tells me how much that moment means to him.

3. Bakugou sqUEEZING KIRISHIMA'S HAND?

Yes. Yes. Yes. But why is it so important?

Well, we see various signals that when Katsuki was kidnapped... He was scared. If not, tense. You can see that by his tone of voice when he tells Izuku to back off while being kidnapped, the look on his face when he feels like he is compromising All Might's success during the fight etc.

Well, according to the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, squeezing someone's hand works just like a painkiller, which matches with what I said about his smile.

Eijirou being there comforts him.

So... Why is that scene important again...?

In conclusion, we can say that this scene was important because it shows a Bakugou we've never seen before. It is a side of him that can see someone and feel comfortable around them. A side of him that shows how he trusts someone to the point that yeah, he can be saved by them. A Bakugo that is not grumpy all the time. I call that "character development"

Not only that, this whole thing shows how compatible they are. They help each other, handle each other's problems...

Now, remember when Bakugo walked away crying and frustrated?

He doesn't have to anymore
