STRUCTURE
My sit and store solution is very simple. This is a comfort chair that has a purpose to store and to be as comfortable as possible for the customer who purchases this chair. I have used two main materials for this structure: Cotton upholstery and teak wood. Teak wood is famous in furniture and this is why I chose this material. I have chosen cotton because this material is easy on the skin and other materials as well – depending on what the customer is wearing.
My concept design chair is:
· Strong
· Durable
· Environment friendly
· Comfortable
· Easy to maintain
· Storage friendly
· Can be used inside and out
· Appealing

FINAL PRESENTATION
VISUALISATIONS
This visualisation image is of the chair being displayed indoors. A customer appears to be enjoying the chair and the other customers are also having a look to see what this chair has to offer.
A visualisation of the comfort chair in an outdoor setting. The chairs still look good in and out and are used for the same purpose of storing and sitting comfortably.
A final visualisation of the chair is another situation. The chair is in a library and is being used by people who come in everyday to read books. The chair goes well in all spaces, indoors and outdoors.

DETAILS OF DESIGN/ 3D TECHINCAL DRAWINGS
The image above shows the dimensions of the chair which is on display on a wooden stand. The customer can comfortably get on it and view the chair closely.
Above are the materials listed that make the final product what it is. The cushion is made of cotton material as this is comfortable easy on the skin and other fabrics.

PERPSECTIVES
Here I have added a human figure to show scale of the chair and the human being. There will be plenty of space for the human figure to relax and sit comfortably on the chair. The shelves are also like side tables where the customer can put the glass there while reading a book or using the laptop.

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
THE COMFORT CHAIR
This chair is a comfortable reading chair – it doubles up as a library and features built-in storage compartments on the exterior. The side shelves can also be used as side tables. With this chair we can showcase and store books, magazines and relax while reading them – with a hot cup of tea.
The design of the chair is comfortable, space and storage efficient. The customer will find it easy to relax with a cup of tea or hot chocolate while reading a book from the storage/shelf or using a laptop while seated on the chair. This chair is an example of comfort and well function.
From the drawings A-C, the figure is attempting to get out of the chair and is doing so comfortably
There are lots of factors to what makes a chair comfortable or suitable. Many of these relate to the quality of the components used, including foam and fabric. Many chair look the same but they can be worlds apart where it matters. We only select chairs (even at the budget end) that we feel will accurately reflect the price and designed use of the chair.
Back support
A good chair with proper back support will improve your posture and therefore eliminate or reduce pain and stiffness. This should have a good shape to it and reflect the natural posture of your body.
Seating
The padding and design of the seat should be considered. The front of the seat should have a shaped or waterfall front edge. A straight horizontal front will cut off circulation to the rear of your knees.
Width of the seat and armrests
We need to fit into the chair. If we have to squeeze into the chair then it does not fit, no matter how comfortable it may seem once we are seated. Most chairs are made to suit most sizes of people, but for those with more generous proportions – we need to design a chair with side adjustable arms. In a good chair, there needs to be room between the armrests and the body. Chairs need to be easily adjustable and comfortable to use. Quality armrests can help with tasks like reading and writing, and taking pressure and tension off the neck and shoulders. Users/customers with small builds can get closer to the desk/table with elbow supports or shorter arms – on the chair, not the person!
Height adjustments
Some people are tall, some are not – so the chair needs to have height adjustment. He body should be aligned properly with the chair and the floor. We can fit higher or shorter lifts for the chair.
The chair that I have designed can be used for reading, relaxing and storage. The customer/user will be comfortable – meaning he/she will be using this more often and will not just be a decoration piece in the space. I want the user/customer to be able to sit and get up from the chair without having to struggle.

Plan
The chair is going to be made of white teak wood and a comfortable cushion so that the customer/user is comfortable and the material of the chair is strong.
Benefits of using teak wood for this project:
Very Strong
Teak wood is a hardwood obtained from broad levelled deciduous trees, and is exceptionally strong, not only when compared to softwoods but as a Mango wood or Pine wood, but also when compared with most o the other hardwood species of trees.
Very Durable
With proper care, teak wood furniture lasts for many long years (in most cases, over 100years). This is the reason why we still find antique teak pieces around. Durability can be counted as one of the most significant advantage that teak wood offers.
Natural resistance to termites and insects
Teak wood has a natural oil content that resists termites (white ants), fungal stains and also repels other insects that can destroy wood. This termite and insect resisting quality turn increases the life span of wood, and this is the reason why teak wood is superior compared to many other kinds of wood.
Moisture-resistant
Another important advantage of teak wood is that is has a good resistance to moisture and water. Other than its beauty, this is the reason why it is preferred wood material using in ship-building for making wooden flooring and decks. Because of its moisture resistance, teak wood is well suited for making indoor furniture as well as high quality garden furniture.
The tones I am using for this chair are cool grey and warm grey tones. These colours are easy on the eyes and welcoming.
I started the project with drawing the plan of the chair and adding measurements to the side and front elevation 2D Drawings of the chair.
The image above is the plan of the chair with measurements. The chair size is 84cm, which is standard size. This chair plan is flexible as it works for small and generous body proportions.
Front and side elevations of the chair
Back view of the chair – with magazine slots at the back.
Measurements of the cushion that will be on the chairMy aim has been to design a chair that is comfortable where the user/customer can relax and also the chair to have a storage space. I wanted a full well-functioning chair. The GIF below includes images from the beginning of the process, to the complete end with the logo of the store. I have added the process of each and every stage in this GIF – the simple chair design, then adding the books to the shelf/storage space, to a human figure sitting and standing – with a background. The chair 3D
The image above is the completed design of the chair, including a human figure and a logo to show this design is for sit & store. Below is a scenario of where else the chair can be placed. I have used a brownish-grey wood a flooring for the store ad it does not clash with the greys in the chair design.

SPACE EFFICIENT CHAIR (Reading, Relaxing & Storage)
There is a good feeling when you walk into a house or a working environment to see everything well organized and a spot and space for everything. Everything in its place. This design concept is based on that. A table/shelf that converts itself into two chairs, a table and includes a storing space. This keeps it simple, clean and space efficient.
You will truly know how important saving space is until you are living in a place with not much space. This is usually the case with apartments and dorms. There is not much space wherein you could be able to place all your furniture and have storage space. Even if you do manage to fit all your furniture in, you won’t have enough space to walk around in. This is why multi-purpose furniture is the best choice.
More people are now thinking of efficiency and convenience even in small spaces. Because of that, they have created various furniture that can be easily used in small spaces. These furniture pieces are usually foldable and those that can be folded can be hidden away with not in use. This is a great option for people who value space. This is what the design concept is based on.
The material I want to use for this project is wood - mahogany wood and or use wood that is warm and welcoming.

This is a shelf like drawing but in actual includes 2 chairs and a table and when still together can be used as a storage space for books or other things the customer might want. The black highlighted area represents the table structure and the light brown highlight are the chairs. The dark brown in the drawings represents the areas that are closed.
The piece opens up to two chairs and a table – the image above is a drawing of one chair being removed and the second one still being attached . The idea is that however the customer wants to use this piece he/she can.
This image is a drawing of now both the chairs and the table being used as a shelf for books and other materials for storage.
