It’s from a series called “Instructions On How To Be Politically Incorrect” by the Austrian art photogropher Erwin Wurm, and it got a bit of a splash in the press in 2012 when it was used in an art-and-publicity project by a trendy hotel with pretensions to being edgy and arty.

Despite the arty edginess of Erwin Wurm, I do not for a moment believe that that we are looking at a stream of piss arcing out from underneath her skirt - I doubt that any of his models would do that, and piss is just a little bit too unpredictable when a photographer has a specific image that he wants to capture.

Nevertheless, it’s quite a fantasy. A mistress or a girfriend loses patience with her disinterested banker boyfriend: she throws him her knickers and stands on the rug, and pisses, and pisses, and pisses; a delicate stream of disdain, pattering softly for a long, long minute and she’s daring him to look up from his laptop; it goes on, it splashes as the rug is saturated, it falters and runs out; and not a word is spoken. She shakes out her hair and struts out, splashes on her heels and droplets on her legs, wetting her dress with little drips and trickles that she can’t quite stop. The end of it is silence, a puddle seeping from the rug, an open door; a trail of droplets and wet spots to the elevator.
