This might be a stretch, but I think that Mark’s betta fish are a reference and parallel to the duality of his innie and outie. The two fish are blue and red, similar to the innie (blue) and outie (red) Marks shown in the intro.

Don’t think it means anything it’s just a fun detail I noticed.
