Thought of something

After you beat the game the book and the ball disappear from the title. Seeing as the book is the one that belonged to Arven I think the same could be true of the ball. Meaning it is either Maboostiff's or your legendary's ball, and the picture is before he meets the player.

The first picture has him carrying burdens he didn't want, but once you clear the game he is free of them.

He can move on.
