A wee bit about me

I'm on the road (hopefully) to being a published author one day. I just barely put a project on the back burner in favor of another one because I listened to a certain musical and decided I had to write a book about ancient Greece and cunning heroes and gods and all that jazz.

On the off chance that i really finish it this will probably be my self-published debut. I choose self-publishing because I like the idea of building my own brand in the near future and having a community of people who love the art I make, and I'm a control freak. I want to draw and design my own covers because I love both those things.

I write stories with action, magic, monsters, war and fictional politics, complicated relationships, tragic crossroads and difficult decisions, deep morals, and dynamic characters. I'm mostly here to share my thoughts because I felt like i was about to explode, and to make friends with people who enjoy the same things as me.

and then the ideas that you would never write, not because they're bad, quite the opposite actually, they are really good, so good that even you the thinker who's rarely nice to yourself can recognize how good they are. they're original enough to bring intrigue, generic enough to follow popular structures and even the characters are interesting, they even have elements that you've heard people say they'd die to see more of, those are the ideas that stick with you for years and you just remember every detail, but the one you had while doing the dishes that's actually useful for your current wip is gone by the time you dry your hands

Writers when it's time to write the story no one forced them to come up with in the first place 🙄

i’ve really come to terms with the fact that word count is not a good thing for me to focus on when drafting. it’ll be important for publishing obviously but I get so caught up in word count that I’m just making really lengthy scenes and descriptions and not advancing the plot as fast as I would like to be. i think this is why I get so exhausted in a first draft which is not something I want, I want to have fun and finish that thing quickly. i’ve never completed a full draft and i plan to force myself to just get it done. If you’re struggling with this to just remember what I keep reminding myself, it WILL be good later rn it only needs to exist

trying to explain to people that epic is like ethereal when i'm just listening to it. like i love the animatics but they also kinda distract me form the production and vocals and other stuff and nothing hits the spot like the challenge in the middle of the night when i have school in the morning

hyperfixation got me again. she won’t leave me alone no matter how much I love a project she wrenches it from my cold iron deficient fingers and hands me a new idea that barely counts as such. it’s only vibesssss. when will she be stopped?? when will we say no more??
