one thing we need to reconcile with the otherkin community is some of us DO see ourselves as fully non-human in the present. like im not partially human or a human with past lives, im a robot and thats where this begins and ends. it’s how i fully see myself all the time and it’s very different from my past life kintypes in that way.
and like idk i feel like a lot of ‘kin folx tend to try to avoid topics like this because it’s definitely weirder (read: less socially acceptable) than “i have past lives that influence my current life but im still mostly human”, but trying to appeal to non-kin sensibilities in that way is useless and frankly completely stupid because you KNOW non-kin will never get it.
i guess my point is yes it’s weird and yes it invites mockery but so what? cringe blogs and similar people on the internet will always laugh at us. sanitizing the community because you think itll make bullies be nicer to us is just really fucking dumb.

I'm sure I'm celestialkin but I think I'm polykin, too- I know my kintype is very humanoid, almost to the extent of looking human but for a few features, and I think I had wings- but I'm fairly sure mine were broken in some way. I know I did a lot of climbing (maybe because I couldn't fly?) and that my kintype is very close to forests/trees and natural things like that (not so much flowers, though). I considered faekin but I can't find any good resources for types of fae. Anyone have ideas?
it’d be good to look up different cultures’ fairies!
ireland has the daoine sídhe, wales has tylwyth teg, scotland has the síth. (both sídhe and síth are pronounced “shee”). there’s the light elves of norse myth, and there’s all sorts of them in german and slavic folklore as well! i’d suggest everything from the spooky jenny greenteeth and fear gorta to the graceful sylphs and leanan sídhe.

i’m pretty sure i’m faekin but i heard being faekin without working with the fae, being pagan, or being of celtic descent is cultural appropriation? i’m mexican and not pagan, but i can’t really help it?
it’s not cultural appropriation. most cultures have some form of fairy, and not all fae are the daoine sídhe. even IF you kin a daoine sídhe, it’s still not cultural appropriation. i AM a celtic pagan and i’m telling you it’s fine.

i was wondering if theres any shower ways of saying werewolf-kin? you cant quite say were-kin or wolf-kin since theres many were's and wolves are diffrent
sorry if this is a silly question-
It's not a silly question, anon! A lot of folks don't really know about other terms for werewolves! You can always use "lycanthrope" and/or "lycan" instead to specify!

Uhh hi is it normal to be a harpy and like chicken and turkey?I'm an owl harpy so I'm presuming it is but I wanted to make sure
I’d expect so, considering I’ve seen plenty of harpies say they’re [insert random bird here]-like harpies!

is it okay to be otherkin and not feel other appendages?
yes! not everyone is going to have astral/supernumerary phantom limbs. it’s a common experience (as far as i know!) but it’s not required :3

Hello! I've been trying to figure out my kintype for some time now, and I am faitly confident that they have something to do with wings and flying. I know that there are birdkin, as well as many mythical winged creatures, but for whatever reason I have a strong feeling that my kintype is some sort of humanoid with wings, specifically feathered wings. I have considered angelkin and faekin, but neither of them felt right. Do you know of any other winged humanoids that could possible be my kintype?
I’ve got a few in mind that you could look into for a start!
Harpies from Greek Mythology! They’re winged humanoid creatures, always depicted with long claws and were connected to storm winds, since they were the personification of them. Always were depicted as women but hey, you be you. Or a Siren, also from Greek Mythos. They look less monstrous than harpies (at first) and they lured in sailors with their songs- then ate them! I’d say they’d be more connected to the ocean and music. If you also wanna get into the fictionkin side, you could look up Hawkman and Hawkwoman from DC Comics!
Hope this helps!

I read the FAQ, it was very informative. I think I'm dragonkin, but I can't figure out if I stand upright or on all fours (which implies I have four legs, which I don't think I do). Do you have any information on how to figure that out, or if I can be both somehow?
it might be a good idea to meditate on it. you could be both, as some types of dragons’ wings also work as legs. if you are so inclined, i guess you could find someone who does pendulum readings for kin, and get an answer that way.

sorry to bother but what's a den? fyi I'm a kitsune
a den is an animal's home! sometimes they can also be called setts, warrens, burrows, nests or holes. you can call your home/bed/blanket fort your den, if that makes you happy. i refer to my bed as my nest. - habit

I don’t know what kintype I am... sometimes I get wings but beyond that I have no idea. Any tips to help me figure it out??
having astral / supernumerary phantom limbs doesnt necessarily make you otherkin! in fact it’s very common for people to feel phantom wings (especially if they have problems with their back)! if you still think it might be kin related please read our faq! we have a guide there. - habit
