Discontinuing my Work

I am saddened to announce that I am currently discontinuing my work on Hades and Persephone. I started the project in 2015 and have been stepping over my own feet nearly the whole time. I honestly enjoyed working on the comic, and even now there are so many appealing aspects about doing it. But in ways I’m not ready to talk about, it has played a role in decimating my mental health. Maybe one day I’ll be emotionally ready to take it back on... but I’m nowhere near that point right now. I’ve been absent from social media on and off for a long while now. But I need to be off-off and put more effort into recovering.

Thank you for the kind messages and showing interest in my work. Sorry I couldn’t deliver. This account is going to be silent for a long while, so in case you decide to unfollow or you just forget over time I would like to wish everyone the best in life.

So I have a question... no offence but, are you going to continue with H&P? Loved it so far 🖤

No offense taken! I’m completely re-writing it. I’m having a lot of trouble but I haven’t given up. If I do end up quitting, I’ll address it publicly. But as of now, I’m still trying. I wouldn’t expect an update anytime soon, honestly the past month I haven’t been working on it at all. Focusing on building my skill and getting good grades. Thanks for showing interest though, it’s good to be reminded that there are people out there that like something you made.

I’m CONSIDERING re-writing my comic. Making it shorter and just...better. I feel overwhelmed and really uneducated. I don’t have much writing experience beyond very basic research papers for college. I don’t know much about how to make a compelling story.

I can draw just fine, I’m no master but I can do ok in that department. Writing? It’s such a struggle for me. People spend years learning how to write, just like drawing. It’s a completely different discipline, and I just kinda threw myself into it. I don’t want to give up though, I want to finish it and I want to be proud of the work I did! 

So I’m not sure what to do right now. I’ve been brainstorming the past few weeks, seeing if I can make a better story and still salvage some work I’ve already done. I’ve been doing more research, which is honestly the most daunting part because there’s so much freaking discourse regarding these Gods and Goddesses and it confuses me. Then again, any subject in history and religion is going to have a lot of discourse so I better get used to it if I’m going to continue writing after this.

If anyone has suggestions, you are welcome to throw them at me. Until then, I’m going to try to sort this out. There’s a chance I might just bite the bullet and just continue with my current version. Just finish it and put this behind me. But I want to do well. Whatever happens, it’s going to be a bit before you all see anything. I’m so sorry, genuinely. I should have been done already. So many of my subscribers are so sweet and understanding, and I appreciate that so much. <3

I've got a question: How would you describe the appearances of your depiction of Hades and Persephone. You know, physical appearance and (physical, cause they're gods) age.

Well, I guess their age is modeled to be in their mid-twenties. Both of them. I know he’s supposed to be older than her but I figure after a while of immorality you just kinda stop counting haha. Plus big age gaps aren’t my favorite thing. Their physical description is pretty straightforward. Persephone is thin, average height. Brown curly hair, brown skin, brown eyes. Hades is tall (tall is a vague term, but I don’t really iron down numbers) and I want to say he’s got a medium build but my art consistency needs some work. He also has brown skin, brown eyes, and brown hair. Although I’m thinking of darkening his hair more because what is art consistency? I have some actor pictures/people I’ve met IRL as my inspiration for them. This is a very technical and unsexy description of them, I apologize. I tend to lean on my drawing a lot to relay this information because I’m not the most eloquent writer.

I know you get this question a lot... but are you going to continue the Hades and Persephone comic on webtoon? Your art is amazing I love your work!

Haha yep I'm still working on it :) I don't have a set date yet, but it feels close. I've completed the replacement prologue and chapter 6. I'm on page 16 out of 30 for part 5. Big chapter, I'll probably split that one into two parts. For a while I was cleaning up old chapters because the art embarrassed me but I stopped doing that for now because it feels like a never ending cycle. Like, I remember finishing part 4 last year and I was so proud. Now I don't like it so I'm just going to stop this editing thing for now. Maybe once it's done I'll hire an editor and they can tell me what needs to be fixed. Ok, you did not need that long winded answer. I got carried away. Have a great day! Hopefully I'll see you soon with the next part of the story :)

Can I just say that your comic WIPs can literally improve someone’s mood. I had a difficult day at Uni and was looking at your stories (I finally worked out how to access that feature on mobile/I usually use Instagram on computer) and the comic WIPs instantly made smile so hard and made my day a whole lot better. 😊

I’m glad you like it! Haha I do get this question a lot, but it’s ok! 😄 It’s still being continued, I’m getting a bit of a buffer ready so I can launch a patreon. I’m getting close to publishing the next chapter, but still have a bit left to draw.

Ok, so the Princess Peach picture I did recently is getting comments and tags saying things along the lines of “omg me and my sibling(s) did this too!” And it makes me so happy to hear that! How freaking cool is that? Us complete strangers have very similar nostalgic memories doing the exact same thing with their siblings. That’s rad.
