Chronic stress doesn’t just wear you out—it actually changes your body at the cellular level. When you’re constantly stressed, your brain pumps out stress hormones like cortisol. Over time, this can flip genetic switches, activating genes tied to illnesses like diabetes, cancer, autoimmune disorders & chronic inflammation. Stress also messes with your immune system, slows down your body’s ability to heal, and creates the ideal setup for sickness. Healing starts when you make peace a priority, calm your nervous system & surround yourself with environments that support your health instead of harming it. Remember that it’s your life, you don’t have to keep people around who hurt you!

Think I used to get bogged down in “do I forgive this person” “do I even out the scales” “should I stand my ground” but really the question I should be asking is “what would be better for me” bc really. What would be better for me in the long term. What would stay true to my self respect and boundaries and values? What would provide the best outcome? What would make the most of our time? Sometimes that’s forgiveness and sometimes it’s not and I don’t think either route is necessarily morally superior to the other so long as it minimizes harm and is fair while also prioritizing your happiness

sacrifice scares people
Instead of sacrificing, you’ll rather soothe and excuse.
You won’t sacrifice going out, which includes missing “meaningful” events. Meaningful≠ Important nor Emergent.
You won’t sacrifice eating your favorite food to reach your weight loss goal.
You won’t sacrifice friendships to reach career goals
You won’t sacrifice time on Tumblr to improve your mental health…despite scrolling contributing to your poor mental health
Failures prefer pleasing methods instead of pleasing results. Their focus is their current mood and emotions.
Pleasing results (your ideal body, income and/or lifestyle) is birthed from sacrifice. You get out what you put in, it’s the law
Slight effort produces slight improvement. Your life improves only by inches. And yet, you’re still not where you want to be in life.
As women, people will be shady or talk down on you working hard, committing to your goals. They will try to shame you as an aggressive masculine who needs to “relax” and “enjoy life more”.
a soft life really requires hard work. To live a life free of mental illness, you have to do the hard work to heal. To life a life free of financial hardship, you must do the hard work to prepare for future recessions or economic downturns. No slight efforts, all or nothing. That’s the law.
This is the law. To get better at sports, you sacrifice. You practice before practice starts. You sacrifice time with friends. You sacrifice time with family. You build muscle, sacrificing comfort for temporary pain (working out). You build skill to ultimately reach your goal of a college scholarship or going pro.
Not everyone is meant to survive, let alone succeed. It’s literally natural selection. You can be a soft femme while going hard at reaching your goals. Know when to get masculine. Get in your bag. Lock in. Go hard or go home

Not letting people experience the consequences of their own actions is a form of people pleasing because it comes from a desire to avoid conflict & keep their approval at the expense of your own boundaries and self respect.

MY FAV IG ATM: @NICOLESNEUROSCIENCE
I struggle IMMENSELY with my mental health even till this day.
I’m currently reprogramming my brain to not operate on a default survival mode. I don’t have to hustle. I don’t have to grind. I am training my brain to relax for the first time in over 20 years. It’s a process.
My struggles with mental health issues is what pushed me to get a Ph.D in Neuroscience. There’s so many factors of our everyday 3D reality that play apart in the trauma we sort of self inflict onto our brain. Climate change, inflation, even the pandemic for example. Long term stress inflicts trauma onto the brain.
I’ve been hesitant about having a urTOOspoiled IG account but I love the simple infographics that allow me to immediately take in the information and apply it without being overwhelmed with information.
I would love to do the same thing since most of my advice is based on data, stats and resources I’ve read in books or on the internet.
Idk though. In the meantime, back to my hidey hole.
Happy Healing! Hope this helped someone who needed it! 🧿🕯💕🙏🏾

bitch this is all you’re gonna get. this life, this face, this body. you better not ‘maybe in another universe’ your way out of everything. sit your ass down and face this. go make tea and have a picnic and read a goddamn book. kiss your loved ones, send that damn text, and hug your siblings. this is all you’re gonna get.
