okay okay okay jokes are funny but if you're actually calling the fangamer promo for the tenna plushie "rainbow capitalism" that is not literally true. funny haha joke but real rainbow capitalism is when giant corporations with enough money to kill god decide to squeeze more money out of people by feigning allyship, usually with a quick logo change and some generic non-committal allyship statement and, rarely, actually doing something like donating to a charity or giving benefits to queer employees all done not out of benevolence but just because it makes them more money than being queerphobic.

a couple of plushies holding hands is not seriously that. toby fox is famously pretty considerate of how he handles and allows fangamer to produce and advertise merchandise, asking "would this enhance the enjoyment of the story?" (which is why there's no lightner plushes to many people's chagrin.) they don't just like. pander. it's a little more rigid than other franchises honestly thanks to the fact toby has maintained creative control of deltarune and undertale and the merch, all things considered, is made and advertised in really cool ways (ie the items inside undertale plushes, the description on the important person shirt)

what I'm saying is that unless it's something that is compliant to canon and enhances enjoyment of deltarune, it would not have happened

which means toby signed off at minimum on the handholding.

to be honest? after his tweet with the image saying "what does that say about society?" I'm now convinced it was his idea actually. cause he's cheeky like that.
