✨About Me✨
I am an interdisciplinary artist living in Boston, MA. Currently, I am captivated by American quilt-making traditions. My quilt making practice is a means of connecting to my maternal lineage and rural American upbringing. Through quilting I nourish practices handed down to me from my mother and grandmother, and diverge from inheritances that are unhealthy and untruthful.
Quilting has seemingly been transformed by consumer culture into a practice of collecting fabrics and notions, creating a "stash". As a counter-practice, my textile works are made with secondhand fabrics from friends, family, the local Goodwill store, and the street. They carry with them impressions from the bodies that used them before.

"Canoeing", 2024, 73x63in, quilt from secondhand fabrics
This quilt is inspired by a memory of canoeing at night in the lake I grew up at. The stars are much clearer there than in Boston, and the Milky Way was bright enough to reflect in the water. My mom gave me the sparkly black fabric, which she got from her mom, who had intended to use it to make a dress for one of her daughters.

A quilt for Max and I when we moved in together, 2023
It has plants and animals and our zodiac signs. This is a coverlet, meaning it has no batting in the center. The top and the backing are quilted together and it is cool enough to keep on our bed when the other blankets get put away for the summer.
