I am apparently working on becoming a local cryptid at the store. Talents include:
Monitoring the changing of the seasons via mozzarella
Predicting the weather by picking up a piece of cheese and mysteriously saying “oh, the storm is gonna be bigger than we thought...” just before thunder
Mind reading, e.g. “Can you help me find a cheese? It’s called, uh... [starts fishing out shopping list]” “Gruyere?” “...yes O_o”

A big shout out to the test kitchen staffers for all banding together striking to protect and uplift their coworkers who were being hurt by Condé Nast’s racism
But the biggest shoutout of all to Sohla, who was willing to put her own job, career, and reputation on the line alone without guarantee of any back up to ask for the resignation of the man in charge of the kitchen. She deserves a lot more recognition than she’s getting for spearheading this, and unfortunately all I see are people cheering on her white coworkers for standing in solidarity with her, rather than her for her own actions.
Make no mistake, everyone participating in the strike deserves recognition, but in a battle for fair and even treatment regardless of race, we must not forget the woman of color who started this whole thing in favor of her white coworkers. Much love and respect to Sohla.

One of the most illuminating things of the last few weeks has been the realization that the Mayor’s offices of most US cities are terrified of upsetting the police departments they supposedly have political authority over
