Never underestimate the creativity (or perversion) of your players

DM gave my character a ring that allowed me to change a letter or drop a letter of a spell I could cast. The spell will reflect its new name. So a spell like Fireball would become Firball (sharp pine needles explode in a radius), Blur became Slur (if cast on a magic user, they can’t use spells with verbal components), Slow becomes Plow (till a field in a minute), etc.

I’m looking down my list of spells after I get the ring to see what mayhem I can cause & I don’t make it past the cantrips before I start laughing so hard I start to cry. I look up at the DM with a huge grin on my face.

“From now on I will only be casting Vicious Cockery at my enemies. It still does 1d4 psychic damage, but instead of insulting them, a disembodied dick smacks them in the face.”

WARNING ABOUT A REALLY NASTY NEW VIRUS.

Meet CryptoLocker. It’s your worst nightmare. A lot of antivirus software, including the big names, cannot yet detect or stop it. If your computer gets it, CryptoLocker takes all your files hostage by encrypting them and giving you a certain amount of time to send a certain amount of money to the man behind the virus.

The encryption is very tidy, and so far seems uncrackable (well, crackable, but it might take a couple centuries). If you tamper with the virus itself, it will pretty much self-destruct and take everything with it. And the way the money is transferred, the dick programmer behind it all for the moment is pretty much uncatchable.

YOU CANNOT GET RID OF THIS VIRUS WITHOUT COMPLETELY WIPING YOUR COMPUTER. YOUR ONLY CHANCE IS PREVENTION AND PREPARATION.

Back up your computer to something like an external hard-drive, or even an internal hard-drive that you just take out and stuff away somewhere for safe keeping. Make sure your antivirus is up to date, avoid skeevy sites, and don’t open random emails. DO NOT download email attachments unless you know exactly what it is, because that seems to be how this is primarily being transmitted.

Looking for D&D DM or campaign

Hi! We are 3 new players looking for a DM or a level 1 campaign to join. We already have our characters created, we’ve played briefly and we know the mechanics of the game (we all watch Critical Role avidly :P). We are a cleric, a wizard and a rogue and we are looking for a DM that wants to run a long term campaign. We are serious about this. Our time zones are EST except one of us who’s Central European Time, but we can adjust, and the European’s schedule is flexible. So mostly:

Can be a newbie DM! We are also new to this!

Has to be a safe place for lgbt, poc, disabled people etc

Long term - we want to keep playing until higher levels. A real adventure yo!

Starting at level 1

Weekly, 2-4 hours every week

5th edition D&D

Combining role playing and combat 

We can do voice and chat or voice, video and chat, we’re cool with anything

Roll20, skype or discord, also cool with anything
