A Handmade Dreamcatcher By Khitan Accessories
The first time I started making dream catcher was 3 years ago. I was inspired by my local community that have a great deal of handicraft products. I also love do-it-yourself project so I started making dream catcher by myself. My friends and family loved my handmade and custom made dream catcher, so I decided to create Khitan Handmade to share my passion and inspiration with more people around the world.
The legend behind the dream catcher is that when a dream catcher is hung over the child's cradle or bed, the bad dreams will be ensnared in the web and perish at daybreak. The good dreams will be attracted to the feathers and gently float into the child's head.
The legend says that when you "catch" a bad dream it will disappear as soon as it touches the web so it can't harm you.
On top of each Dream Catcher there is a metal ring representing our connection with Great Spirit above. Inside each metal ring there are six points of connection - which represent the 6 directions of life. North, South, East, West, Above and Below.
In life there are three things that are very important to us; our mind, our body and our spirit. The web in your dream catcher represents your mind. The hole in the center represents your spirit and the beads and feathers represent your body / physical form. The number of beads inside your web represents how many individual gifts of wisdom you possess as well as how many blessings you have received in your lifetime. Your spirit always resides within your physical form but it never sleeps! While you sleep peacefully through out the night, all of those negative thoughts (bad dreams) from your day are sifted through your dream catcher, cleansed and purified so that you wake up with a positive outlook on life.
The number of feathers on a particular dream catcher is just as important as the number of beads inside the web. There are usually two feathers attached to each bead on a dream catcher. These feathers represent the balance between male and female energies. In Native American culture, men are represented by Eagle feathers because eagles soar high above everything else and women are represented by hawk feathers because hawks hover over their prey before attacking it.

Handmade dream catchers are used as a charm to protect sleeping people, usually children, from bad dreams and nightmares. Native Americans believe that the night air is filled with dreams, both good and bad. When hung above the bed in the room with the good dream spiral, the dream catcher filters out all bad dreams and only allows good thoughts to enter your mind. The Ojibwe believe that a dreamcatcher changes a person's dreams. Only good dreams would be allowed to filter through; bad dreams would stay in the net, disappearing with the light of day.

All handmade dream catchers are crafted with the finest materials. The rings are wrapped with leather and stones, feathers etc. are hung from the bottom of the hoop. The woven web inside the hoop catches bad dreams during sleep and allows only good dreams to pass through the center hole to the sleeping person below. The bad dreams get caught in the web and perish with the light of morning sun.
