How To Manage Online Class During Pandemic
We are all surprised by the sudden occurence of coronavirus in our country and the spread of it is a monster situation to deal with, but despite of the issue that is happening right now, you can still manage your online class.
Many students assumed that having online class is as easy as having a face to face classes but after a couple of months, many shared their opinions regarding this. They expressed how hard this school year is compared to others. They experience stress because of all the activities that they need to pass at the same time. Others are disappointed because they didn't expect that online class means that they need to stay up late and skip their meals just to finish their projects, assignments, activities as well as quizzes. There is instances that suicide occurs and they blame it to the education system which we are not sure if it's really true.
One thing is for sure, online class leads the students to have breakdowns, stress as well as depression. Some also wished that they did not enrolled themselves if only they know that online class is as hard as avoiding social media.
Like many students, you are probably in the position of being unable to return to school because of the COVID-19 pandemic that has caused respiratory illness in almost every country, overrun hospitals, and made physical distancing the new normal. Colleges and universities everywhere are shutting down their campuses and moving classes online.
Although you think that you can't survive the education system right now, you can still take control of your learning and keep up with your classes. Here are five things you can do to thrive in the switch to virtual learning.
1.Stay disciplined
Your home may not look like a school, but you are still a student. Because you’re at home, there’s a lot of potential for distractions, so you’ll need to focus on staying focused to stay on track
2. Be flexible
Your classes are now online lectures, videos, or a series of readings so being flexible about these changes will help you adjust.
3. Manage your time wisely
The benefit of face-to-face classes is that you can rely on them to assess where you should be in the curriculum and remember what exams and deadlines are coming. With new circumstances, you may need to set up your own reminders.
4. Be kind to yourself
Spending the day hunched over the computer or your phone are rough on the body and the brain. Take breaks roughly every hour. Stand up, stretch, jog, take a coffee break, or whatever you need to do. And don’t forget to drink water.
5. Keep in touch
On school, opportunities to ask questions, join study groups, and chat with friends are a way to relax and this is what you all miss. These activities help you keep up with your studies, and keep you in touch with other people.
Online, you need to make an effort to stay connected. Reach out to your teachers, participate in online discussions through your course, join virtual study sessions, and keep in touch with your friends either classmates via phone calls, text messages and social media.
Just because you’re forced to be isolated doesn’t mean you’re alone. Close and regular contact with your teachers, classmates, friends especially your family will help you stay motivated and engaged.
Always remember to keep going. Don't give up just because you think that you can't do it. Relax for a bit and then continue. Sometimes a little rest will help you to stay focus and erase all the negativity and doubts that you have in yourself.
If there is a time where you think that you want to quit then please don't. Quitting is not the answer. You are a fighter. Motivate yourself. Remind yourself why you are here and why you need to continue because trust me, that will help you to keep going. Just because you feel down doesn't mean that you have to quit. Be positive and don't surround yourself with negative thoughts. You know you can do it, you just have to believe in yourself.
