This a photo I shot in Banff National Park after driving for nearly 15 hours from Salt Lake City. We pulled up to this spot, got out of the car & were greeted by the most crystal clear night sky I've ever witnessed. We spent two hours jumping in and out of the car (to stay warm since it was FREEZING outside) taking photos & ooh-ing over every shooting star.

We woke up early, we drove through the misty streets, we inhaled the cool morning air, and we solemnly walked up and down this bridge. The light wind brushed through the deep green trees. We talked about how happy we were to experience this typically buzzing place with no one else around, just the four of us taking in the moment & cracking jokes.

It’s pretty incredible to look back at photographs from the past 7 years & feel the rush of emotions & memories flood through me. I feel like I rarely express publicly my gratitude for stumbling into photography back in 2011, but it will forever be a huge part of my life. It’s opened up doors of opportunity for me, brought me friendships, given me a medium to express myself both with & without words, and taken me to endlessly beautiful places both near & far from my own front door. As I’ve been gathering together a portfolio full of my best photographs, I’ve latched onto a few that really take me back to that moment of hearing the shutter click, putting my camera down, and just soaking in every ounce of the breathtaking landscapes in front of me.
In an effort to share these top 20 photos, I’m going to be posting them over the next few days on all my social media pages, as well as offer them up for purchase, if you’re interested, on my Big Cartel shop. If you order 2 or more prints, use the discount code “SPRING20″ for 20% off your order. Also, shipping is always free!
I’m excited just to share some photos (both that I’ve shared previously & photos that I’ve never posted) and memories that I’ll forever be grateful for.

I stay quiet most of the time. I like to listen. Words are difficult because I rarely seem to find the right ones - especially when speaking. I miss people more than I miss things. I guess that's why I hear voices and remember moments when I look at old photos. I hope for the best, especially for you and your life, even when things are gray in my own. I don't hold grudges and I never would wish harm upon another, but I know that's just me - I don't expect you to be the same as me. Why do we pass by strangers so frequently without a single thought towards them? I sit in coffee shops and practically try on the shoes of other people, wondering what it's like to be them. Where they came from, where they are going, what's going through their head, what's their favorite song, are they comfortable, are they happy? Are they cared for? Will they make it home safely? We're all busy, but are we too busy to notice & acknowledge one another? Even on days where nothing feels real, looking someone in the eyes is better than 140 characters of a meaningless string of words. || stream of consciousness || [1.16.17, 7:10pm]

This might be a weird question, but are you supposed to tip your photographer? I am asking my girl to marry me in a couple of weeks and hired a photographer to capture it all but I'm not sure if I'm supposed to be tipping him on top of paying him his usual.. Like how you tip a tattoo artist haha. I have followed your work for awhile now and have definitely looked up to your skills. Great job man, thanks in advance. 👊🏽
It’s definitely not necessary, it is a “service” industry though, so the option is there. Photographers set their own prices, but if they do a great job, then tipping them is just a nice gesture. I’ve been tipped in the past after sending the final photos back to clients, but it’s not expected.
Also, thank you! I appreciate the kindness! Good luck with the proposal :)
