family life: azra was three when her family immigrated to america from turkey. they moved to new york, looking for bigger and better things for their family. at the age of nine, azra was scouted by a travelling television producer, and he tried to convince her family to bring her to the city of angels. he tried to sell them on the dream of hollywood, weaving wonderous tales of the fame and power that their precious daughter could bring them. her parents laughed at the idea, they were barely scraping by in new york, they couldn't afford to pack up and move across the country on a pipe dream, but for young azra, however, dreams had been sparked. azra was a restless kid, always seeking some type of trouble. that behaviour only escalated with the sudden death of her father when she was twelve. her mother had been a housewife, with no real life skills, and struggled in the wake of their loss. she was heartbroken and fell into a deep, paralyzing depression, leaving azra to her own devices way too young.

pre-fame life: {tw: drug dealing, assault} desperate for any kind of attention, she fell in with the first group of friends that would take her. unfortunately, they weren't the best influences, and ended up getting her involved in drinking, drugs, and petty crime. the beginning of the end started simply. with a hey, can you take this package over to my friend's for me? once, twice, then again and again until one day she looked inside the package, only to learn she'd been running drugs for a local dealer. she was too smart to be used like that, so one day she decided to take things up a notch and begin selling herself. she started by selling to classmates, and was left alone. but things started to spiral when she started selling to kids at parties and at the theatre she worked part-time at. she managed to make it three years, until at age fifteen she caught the attention of someone who wasn't much a fan of her encroaching on their territory. he tracked her down on the way home from work and beat her within an inch of her life. afraid to stick around much longer after that, she packed up everything she owned, said one last goodbye to the empty shell of her mother, and hopped on a greyhound to los angeles.

finding fame: azra was fifteen and alone in a big city, desperate to make a better life for herself than the path she had begun down in new york. she remembered that travelling producer and his encouragement, so she looked up nearby auditions and got to work on pursuing her dreams. it was a rocky road at first, sleeping on the streets of los angeles. but then she managed to land the lead role in a new high-glamour teen show. it taught her everything she knew about acting, los angeles, and the world of the elite. and, it launched her career, effectively saving her life. plus, acting had the unexpected side effect of introducing azra to a young screenwriter named ripley james, or rj. she'd been cast as the lead in one of his projects, and while the project was never meant to be, it seemed that she and rj were. she fell in love with him instantly, and they've been together ever since. a few years ago, when she didn't think things could get any more perfect, they tied the knot. rj and azra soon became hollywood's favourite power couple, known for their playful banter and public rizzing on each other (think blake lively/ryan reynolds). azra, a bit of a perfectionist, was determined to have the perfect wedding dress. so, of course, she designed her own. however, this sparked something in her, and she turned her attention to fashion design, starting her own fashion powerhouse, branded with her new married name. since then, they've even been making plans to expand their family, although it's not all smooth sailing. the couple has been fairly public about their fertility struggles, openly talking about how much they want to start a family. they are happy....ish.

dreams & goals: azra wants to be on the top of the world. she wants to be a household name, the most famous woman in the world. she wants the money and the glamour and she wants to share it all with her wonderful and incredible husband. and maybe, one day, start a family. but she has big dreams of creating a legacy fashion house, proudly branded with her name.

personality: on the surface, azra is a bright and charming young woman, with a cheery disposition bordering on immature, she typically focuses on keeping things light and fun. however, she struggles to trust people and make friends, as she's been burned too many times in the past. she's very skittish and a bit withdrawn around new people. she's usually known for being the centre of attention, whether she wants to be or not, but is secretly a bit of an introvert. it's why many are surprised by the drastic difference in the personality of loud, boisterous azra and quiet, calm rj. he keeps her grounded and she breathes a bit of life into him. they work in harmony, and she is truly and genuinely happy and in love with him.
